Course Description
This course is given to the first semester students in Pharmacy Department. This course is designed
to meet students’ need that emphasizes the students’ ability in the four English skills, namely
listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Standard Competence
By the end of the semester, students are able to increase their abilities in the areas of listening
comprehension and reading comprehension in accordance with their field of study. Besides, the
students are able to produce piece of paragraph writings and are able to perform meaningful
communications in special contexts in accordance with their field of study.

Contents
This course was designed to develop students’ proficiency in the four skills. The first is listening
skill that involves the listening podcast, ted talks, English recordings that are linked to the topic
areas studied. Furthermore, reading skill includes reading materials taken from many sources,
writing skill covers the materials on how to write simple paragraph that relates to the related field,
and speaking skill includes the topic based material by using vocabularies, fluency, expression and
speaking activities. Besides, the students will be exposed to variety of activities dealing with
speaking practice and discussion on the related study.

Classroom activities will be based on interactive scheme that is reflected as relax and comfort environment,

Special Notes
 The tolerance for lateness : 15 minutes
 The students who come after 15 minutes will be counted as absence
 The maximum absence is 3 times
