"Pira - piraso"

(Reaction Paper)

The story Pira- piraso reflects the most common social phenomenon
experienced by many Filipino families nowadays linked to poverty. This is the
reason why a family member need to leave their families to work abroad to
support the needs of their families. Just like the simple story but very touching
story we've watch. It shows the story of an OFW named Minda who worked in
Hong Kong for almost two years, who leave her family in order for her to give
them a wealthy and fortunate life. But the life she dreamed off for her family
became only a dreamed. Because all the money she was sent for her family was
wasted by his husband (Cardo) who gave his mistress a financial support and
everything she wanted. Her absence as wife, as a mother or as a parents to her
children has a big impact to them. Just like his husband who cheat another
woman to fulfill his loneliness. The relationship in a family may changed because
of the absence and lack of communication towards them. The behavior of a child
may exhibited behind their feelings and thought. They may felt being abandoned,
lack of parental care, and being confused that may result to the anger of a child to
his/her parents that sometimes result to act of rebellious way. Like the
characters of the three siblings Robert, Leni and Liza who show the negative
effect that may do of a teenager. Robert always going home late and sometimes
involve in a fight, as well as the youngest Liza who always with her friends who
serves as substitute for the absence of their parent/s, who once try to imitate
the daily habit of their father who always drunk. And lastly the middle child, who
made a big mistake for herself, Leni got pregnant at her young age.

The lack of care and guidance of a parents to his/her children is very

well observed in the short film. But on my observation through the whole story,
the part of the ending or which is well known as the "falling action" was a little bit
boring and there is no thrill towards it. Because forgiving a person who made a
big mistakes is not easy , which is probably true in reality. But in the movie, the
girl Liza only cry and his father smelled her drunk, and the father only say that,
"don't try to be like me" - then it's OVER. Everything became alright in a simple
sorry of their father. I want to see the action of being sincerely sorry of someone
before the forgiveness and acceptance may /should apply, especially to the part
of Minda, who once punched by her husband in front of their children. Forgiving a
person is not so easy but it takes time to heal all wounds. The story is good, it can
be a good movie for advocacy in such place like our country. And it is great for us
students to be aware in such social issues like that, it's very inspiring. As well as
to touched every students who became or encounter in a situation just like the
story. It's funny as well and "direct to the point".

In every challenges or struggles that may encounter to our life, there

is always a solution that can heal every problems. We must learn to forgive and
forget. A family is the best gift every person have in this world. Because they are
the one who always sacrifice to make us happy and completely satisfy to our life.
Lastly, to us teenagers be responsible enough to be wise in all the things we do.
Regrets may felt when it's too late. But people says " learn from your mistake."
Cause life is a matter of choice. And also edcation is very important to each of us,
because it is the only gift and legacy a parents could give that no one can ever
take away. So study hard!.....
