Tip (gauge) Tip (make it right)

When making bookmarks, you should use a much smaller If there are no special notes, the bookmark is crocheted

Body
Note: ch 1 (last chain) at the end of each row is not counted
as a stitch for the final count of stitches in a row.

To begin: chain 6 with main color yarn (beige in my case).


Row 1: start from the 2nd ch from hook and work 4 sc,
inc (6 sts), ch 2, turn.
Turn your work at the end of each round.
Row 2: 6 sc, inc (8 sts), ch 2
Row 3: 8 sc, inc (10 sts), ch 2
Row 4: 11 sc, ch 2
Row 5: 11 sc, inc (13 sts), ch 1
Row 6-10: 13 sc, ch 1
Row 11: dec, 9 sc, dec (11 sts), ch 1
Row 12-14: 11 sc, ch 1

Attach beige yarn to the bottom part of the muzzle and


start crocheting the part round with scs, shaping front
and hind legs as you can see in pic.

Front legs: work 23 chain stitches and starting from the


3rd ch from the hook work 21 sc, Continue crocheting
round to the point of shaping the hind legs.

Hind legs: work 16 chain stitches and starting from the


3rd ch from the hook work 14 hdc.

Continue crocheting around the body, when crocheting


the muzzle round replace beige yarn with white one.

Ears (make 2)
Work 6 ch and starting from the 2nd ch from the hook
work sc, hdc, 3 dc. Fasten off, leaving long tail (it will
be used to sew details).

To shape hoofs attach brown yarn to the edge of one leg, Tail
crochet 3 sc for the front legs and 4 sc for the back legs,
then crochet 2 rows of sc for each leg. Fasten off and Cut several pieces of brown yarn 15-16 cm long.
weave in loose ends.
Mane

Attach brown yarn at the bottom of the mane, work 1 sc


and keep working double loop stitches till the end of
the forehead. In the end of mane it is better to make
bigger loops, wrapping the thumb 5 times instead of 3
to get more extensive forelock.

Embroider mouse and nose.


Fix front legs in desired position with several stitches.
Iron the bookmark through damp cloth and glue the
eyes.

Assembly

Take several pieces of brown yarn 15-16 cm long, fold


them twice, pool through the crocheted fabric at the
back side of the bookmark, fasten and tighten threads
of tail in the loop.

Sew the ears: one – at right side of the base and the

Appendix STITCHES USED IN THE PATTERN

RECOMMENDED YARN Slip knot


Loop the yarn around your left index finger.
Cotton yarn ‘Landysh’ (Troitskaya worsted factory) –
50 g/115 m, Sport / 5 ply (12 wpi)

Slip the yarn from your finger, and hold the loop
between your thumb and index finger.

Cotton yarn CHARM (Vita Cotton) – 50 g/115 m,


Sport / 5 ply (12 wpi)

Use the crochet hook, held in your right hand, to draw


the loop up and around the hook.

Cotton yarn RENE (Alpina). 50 g/105 m, Sport / 5 ply


(12 wpi)

Chain
Start with slip knot, yarn over, pull the strand of yarn
though the loop on your hook – you’ve got one chain.
Continue to repeat the process to create more chains.

Slip Stitch
Insert the hook in the next chain, yarn over and pull the

strand of yarn through the chain and the loop on the Increase
hook. In the beginning (end or middle) of the row make 2
single crochets in 1 stitch of previous round.

Single Crochet
Insert the hook in the chain, yarn over, pull the strand
of yarn through the chain, yarn over again and pull the
strand of yarn through both loops on the hook. Starting Loops back, front, both.
from round 2 insert the hook in the stitch of previous
round.

Double loop stitch

Attach brown thread to the base, work 1 sc.

Decrease
In the place where you need decrease pull up a loop in
next 2 stitches of previous round, yarn over, pull the
strand of yarn through all 3 loops on the hook, counts
as one single crochet.

to front) and put it behind (to the back).

Repeat these actions as many times as you need.


Insert hook into the loops on the thumb, then into the st
of the base and work sc.

Take working thread and pulling it through the loops on

In the end of mane it is better to make bigger loops,
