(Assignment #1)

1. How do you understand the word breakdown when applied to communication?

Give a specific situation to illustrate your own definition.

● Answer:
-For me, my understanding of the word breakdown is the interruption of a
conversation between two people talking. And this not only happens to two
people talking but also to a group of people talking. This is usually experienced
by students or their teachers during their online classes. Sometimes they
experience disconnection and interruption while they are in their online class; it
may be due to weak or unstable internet connection. It therefore has an impact
on communication and understanding between teachers and students especially
during their online classes. That is why consistency is important in a conversation
so that people can understand each other and for them to be able to express
their feelings and ideas.

2. Why is it important to develop oral communication skills?

● Answer:
-Since our country is famous and often visited by tourists and foreigners, it is
important that we develop our oral communication skills because most of the
time people will misunderstand you or what you mean if you don't say what's on
your mind especially if you are talking to a foreigner who only understands
English. Atleast if we have good practice in our oral communication skills we can
just voice out our thoughts in a good manner and express our feelings without
confusion or misunderstanding. Unlike if we have bad oral communication skills
then we will have a hard time talking to people. And of course not because we
are in our own country, maybe it is not right that our language is the only one we
understand and we often use in our conversations with other people. We should
also learn and practice speaking English so that if we meet a foreigner on our
way we will not have difficulty talking to them and also to avoid misunderstanding
and confusion while having a conversation.
