A Written Report on the Ethical Issues in Media Coverage

Beyond the simplistic concept encompassing information transfer such as media

coverage, proves to be a life essential definitive of an awareness, knowledge, and interpretation
of the intricate world. From the disclosure of ideas to acquisition of our actions, there exists an
imperative need to think of what is ethically right to achieve favorable consequences that could
greatly impact our lives. With that being said, media ethics shall be properly adhered so that it
could advocate learning amongst one another, resulting in characteristics that are honed and
nurtured as a media practitioner.
Upon digging to the context of the article, there are several particularities I found that is
reiterated by the author which underlie ethical principles that aims to deliver knowledge on its
refined form. It includes truth-telling as there is a need to maintain accuracy and factualness to
convey an engaging context. It circumscribes to independence which also makes a crucial part as
it must be liberated from issues that may drag the context down. Compassion and humaneness
are also a subject for consideration to have a give-and-take continuum that addresses ethicality.
On the other hand, the context shall have justice to promote balance and reasonability which then
result to a more credible output. Lastly, there is a need for stewardship since we sail across the
multitude of knowledge, someone should be assuring the overall quality and concerns towards
the needs of the public. For me, these principles pave a way for a regulated system in the world
of media so that one can achieve harmony within its environment.
Nevertheless, ethical issues may still arise as one’s notion, or even allegory of truth, is
grounded on the extrapolated concreteness of it that is always in accord with our personal and
class interest—which also infers to privileges, the power of class, and legitimization of ideas that
subsumes the individual, itself. For instance, is the occurrence of corruption that makes the
narrative regressive as how they could be since it was muddled by deceitful contexts that are left
unchecked. Sensationalism is also a big factor in this crippling issue as it may exaggerate one’s
narrative that could spark another issue on hand. I shortly learned that these unforeseen events
may shape our self-understanding and expand our reality towards interacting in our society.
Amid the negative prospects of this premise, the need for proper regulation would accelerate
fairness.
I have acquired on another premise that such scenario of imposing ethics to media,
dilemmas may come on surface since journalists and media practitioners shall ensure that every
decision is in its utmost reliability before delivering it to the public. Choices will depend on how
situations were assessed so that rather than the possible harm, it can be avoided and harness a
positive impact to the society. Thus, it makes us critical on carefully selecting our options so that
it would only result to expected implications.
Overall, it is stated in the article that these ethical considerations were assured for proper
compliance since it foresees to make things better while coping up into an age of modernization,
including our accustomed natural communication process that remarkably expands our choices
on how information shall be delivered. Furthermore, I have learned it has widened our scope into
worldly horizons and has deepened our ethical sensibility so that the media could extensively
contribute to the prosperity of the global age that is more beneficial than being detrimental.
Furthermost, I have realized that the main goal of these ethical measures is to create solutions
that would make up the facticity of truth—for which reason, one invokes an inertia of centralized
theory, circumscribed by the periphery of rights.
