Carl Reh Winery România

The concept lying at the basis of the birth of the Carl Reh Winery company was fundamented on the
creation of wines which would have a new and unique personality, different from anything that
already existed on the Romanian market. It is a novel attitude, which comprises both the Romanian
traditionalism and constancy as well as the passion invested in our products and projects, that
reflects the spirit of Carl Reh Winery. The company was founded in 1994 by Reh Kendermann- GmbH,
Bingen am Rhein, one of the most modern wine cellars in Germany, the number one exporter of
German wines.

In 2001 we established the first vineyards, by replanting the old vines on the Golul Drancei hills,
Mehendinti County. It was then that the complete programme of recultivation of 350 hectares of
vine started. 2002 marked the actual entrance of the Carl Reh Winery wines on the Romanian
market. Today we are among the most important exporters of wines that have the appellation of
origin Romania, and our employees’ passion for quality has been rewarded with numerous awards
and medals in national and international competitions. In order to offer the Romanian consumers as
many quality models as possible, we have brought to Romania wines made by famous international
producers such as Reh Kendermanns, Lindemans,Rosemount, Penfolds or Beringer.

We have always identified ourselves with a fresh style and a modern approach both in viticulture and
vinification. Passion, quality, innovation: these are the values that have inspired and guided every
step we took.

Carl Reh Winery’s vineyard and cellar are situated 15 km from the Danube River, in Oprisor village,
Mehedinti County, in the South-West of Romania, among gently sloping hills, proper for vineyard
growing.

A mix team of winemakers (Romanian and foreign) are using the most modern winemaking
techniques, to the delight of consumers all over the world.

The “terra rosa“ strip of terrain, situated between the Carpathians and the Danube River, is the
source of richness for a young vineyard, ready to produce the best quality vintages, such as:
Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Dornfelder and Primitivo.

In this wild and desert country side, nature is the exclusive master!

The tradition and the millenary culture of the Danube‘s Valley are transposed, through modern
methods, into ranges of wine which awaken the senses and the joy of life or, maybe, nostalgia…
Coming in wide varieties, of both national and international sorts, and characterised by the
accuracy typical to the breed, our wines are the living proof that tradition and modernity can
successfully combine.

Two key-elements of turning grapes into wine are the vintaging time (decided by our winemakers)
and the selection of the healthy grapes only for vintaging, achieved by our representatives closely
supervising the harvest.
CALOIAN - SAUVIGNON BLANC

A sprightly and buoyant playmate, like a child running tirelessly over the hills, from morning till night.
Acid and full of vivacity, perfumed and revigorating, like a fresh bunch of grape vine and elderberry
blossoms, of wild flowers and thin grass. A brief and unpretentious, undemanding escape, the
perfect reminder of how important the moments reserved for small pleasures are

LA CETATE PINOT NOIR

It's the elegance of long-gone ages caught and bottled as a potion. It seems to try to hide its nature
under a thick armor, asking the partner for patience in a long game. The longer the game, the higher
the pleasure, though...

This Pinot Noir has a intricate speech resembling a cipher. The first feeling is that of old wood and
fossil earth. It's the armor of an old soldier left in a gothic basement to protect the treasure.
Following the barely noticeable secondary flavors until the wine opens up, one may see the growth
and blooming of exotic notes, like rum and dry coconuts, followed then by an European-style
mushroom note and, finally, an explosion of juicy red fruits. The evolution in taste follows step by
step the story told by the nose, with an addition of supple sensations of thick leaves.

Lithe, silky, with flavours of coffee, black berries and black truffle. A complex balanced Pinot Noir
with an expressive personality and excellent ageing potential.

LA CETATE TAMAIOASA ROMANEASCA

Straw yellow with golden twist , Tamaioasa from La Cetate collection, represents a new stage in the
typical Romanian way that understood this variety . After years in which the wine with sugar excess
were produced, followed by another years when Tãmâioasei potential was explored in many
variations of dry wines , this wine captures a historic moment that could become the idealized
expression of the grape , were the offer is not stifled by sugar or ephemeral , intangible , like dry
versions .

Central aroma of incense noble , is enveloped by notes of acacia , elderberry , lime , lemon zest
yellow, light sweet accents . Taste, the wine is placed at a point closer to semi-dry than sweet
flavors , exactly the point where the wine is stabilized , without coming under the influence of
fructose . With a slim body , lively, lithe acidity , the wine turns out to be as complex as it is friendly ,
flowing without bumps and providing a long and elegant aftertaste dominated by dry acacia and
honey.
