WHAT IS QQI LEVEL 5 EDUCATION AND TRAINING (5M3635)?

Prepares learners for entrance into Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges.
Lays foundations for those who want to pursue a career as either a primary or post-primary teacher.
This course lays the foundation for those who know education is their first choice of career.

COURSE CONTENT:
Modules 2022-23 include (subject to availability):
Concepts in Education and Training, Psychology, Word Processing, Interpersonal and Group
Behaviour, Approaches to Early Childhood Education, Understanding Special Needs, Gaeilge, Modern
Language Options, English Literature, History, Communications, Work Experience, Research and
Study Skills

WHAT ARE THE PROGRESSION AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES?

Apply through CAO for a range of courses including Education Studies and Early Childhood Studies at
Marino Institute of Education, Post-Primary Teacher Education at DCU and Arts Degrees at DCU,
Maynooth and UCD and other degree courses available in universities and Institutes of Technology.
Students can then apply for the Postgraduate Masters in Education (PME) to qualify as a primary or
post- primary teacher.
