Understand the Problem:

There is a total of 27 vehicles consisting of cars and motorcycles in a
certain police station. Now, the problem reveals that there is a total of
90 tires and we all know that a car has 4 tires and a tricycle has 3 tires.
What we are going to find is the number of cars and the number of
tricycles given that there is 27 vehicles with 90 tires in total.
Device a plan
Since it’s difficult to make an equation out of the given, I will sketch or
make a drawing of the possible number of cars and tricycles by pairing 4
tires and 3 tires respectively and alternatively. I’ll just adjust if the count
is lesser or more than the number of tires.
Carry out the Plan

Legend: (0000)-cars (000) – tricycle (v) =vehicle

(v) 0000 (v) 000 (v) 0000 (v) 000 (v) 0000 (v) 000 (v) 0000
(v) 0000 (v) 000 (v) 0000 (v) 000 (v) 0000 (v) 000 (v) 0000
(v) 0000 (v) 000 (v) 000 (v) 000 (v) 000 (v) 000 (v) 000
(v) 000 (v) 000 (v) 000 (v) 000 (v) 000 (v) 000

Hence, there are 9 cars and 18 tricycles

Review the Solution
To review, I just recount the number of tires and check if it equals to 27
vehicles with 90 tires. But for more accurate checking, we can have:

9 cars = 4 tires x 9 = 36
18 tricycles = 3 tires x 18 = 54
36 + 54 = 90 tires
9 + 18 = 27 vehicles

Understand the Problem

The problem makes it clear that a basketball team have won two out of
their last four games. Now, the problem is asking us the possible orders
that the team made two wins and two losses in four games. Hence, there
could be any different orders. We can say that the team have two
consecutive wins and two consecutive losses or vice versa and it can be
alternately, meaning they win the first game, lost at the second and so
on.
Devise a Plan
In order to find the possible orders, I will make a list/table for me to
clearly see the number of possible orders.
Carry Out the Plan

1st Game 2nd Game 3rd Game 4th Game

1. Win Win Loss Loss
2. Win Loss Win Loss
3. Win Loss Loss Win
4. Loss Loss Win Win
5. Loss Win Loss Win
6. Loss Win Win Loss
Review the Solution
As per, the list in the table, there is 6 different orders as per how the team
attain two wins and two losses in 4 games. To review, it can be clearly
identified that there is no duplicate orders and that all possible orders is
listed. With these, I am certain that there is 6 possible orders.

Strategy to be used: Work Backwards

Since, Anne, has a remaining balance of 451.25 in her bank account with a
spending of Php 24.50, PHP 80.00 and a deposit of php 235.00, we will try to
consolidate all the given to get the money Anne has at the beginning of the
day.
First, I will minus the Php 235.00 to 451.25 instead of adding it since we are
working backwards here:
451.25 – 235.00
= 216.25
Then, I will add up the amounts of Php 24.50 and P 80.00 to Php 216.25
instead of subtracting it because again we are working backwards.

216.25 + 24.50 + 80.00

= 320.75
Hence, Anne has Php 320.75 at the beginning of the day
To check:
320.75 – 24.50 – 80.00
= 216.26 + 235
= Php 451.25

Finding the Common Difference:

Solution:
Given: d= 𝑎2 -𝑎1
𝑎1 = 4 𝑎2 = 8 =8–4
d= 4

Now that we have the common difference, we will now proceed on finding the 12th term of the
harmonic sequence.

Formula:

𝑎𝑛 𝑎1
𝑎12
Given:
𝑎12
𝑎1 = 4
𝑎12
d=4

Solution:

(To find the sum of the first 12th terms

of the series, we have:
Formula:

Given: 𝑆= {2𝑎1 + (n – 1) d}
2

𝑎1 = 1/3 𝑆12 =
12 1
{2( ) + (12 – 1) 1}
2 3
d=1 (4/3-1/3) 2
𝑆12 = 6 { + (11) 1}

n=12

𝑆12 = 6 {( + 11)}

𝑆12 = 6 ( )

𝑆12 = 70
Hence, the sum of the first 12 terms is

Solution:

Finding r:

Solution:

𝑎1 = 3 𝑎2 9
= =3
𝑎2 = 9 𝑎1 3

Now that we have the common ratio, we will now find the
7th term

Substituting Values:
𝑎𝑛 = 𝑎1 ⋅ 𝑟 𝑛−1

𝑎7 = 3 (3)7−1

𝑎7 = 3 (3)6

𝑎7 = 3 (729)

𝑎7 = 2, 187
Hence, the 7th term of the geometric sequence is 2, 187
Solution:

Finding r

Given: Solution:
𝑎2 12
𝑎1 = 4 = =3
𝑎1 4
𝑎2 = 12

Now that we have the common ratio, we will now find the 10th term

Substituting Values:
𝑎𝑛 = 𝑎1 ⋅ 𝑟 𝑛−1

𝑎10 = 4 (3)10−1

𝑎10 = 4 (3)9

𝑎10 = 4 (19,683)

𝑎10 = 78,732
Hence, the 7th term of the geometric sequence is 78, 732
Finding the Common Difference:

Solution:
Given:

𝑎7 = 129 𝑎𝑛 𝑎1

𝑎12 = 14 𝑎7 𝑎1
𝑎12 𝑎1
𝑎7 𝑎12
𝑎1 + 11𝑑 𝑎1 + 6𝑑

𝑎12 𝑎7

Since we now have the common difference, we will solve for the first term:

Solution:
Given:
𝑎𝑛 𝑎1
𝑎7 = 129
𝑎12 𝑎1
𝑎12 = 14
𝑎12 𝑎1
d= -23
𝑎1
n=12
𝑎1
𝑎1 =?
𝑎1
Now that we have the first term, we will now solve for the other terms:

𝑎1 = 267
𝑎7 = 𝑎6 + 𝑑
𝑎12 = 𝑎11 + 𝑑
𝑎2 = 𝑎1 + 𝑑
= 152 + -23
= 37 + -23
= 267 + -23
= 129
= 14
= 244
𝑎8 = 𝑎7 + 𝑑
𝑎13 = 𝑎1 + 𝑑
𝑎3 = 𝑎2 + 𝑑
= 129 + -23
= 14 + -23
= 244 + -23
= 106
= -9
= 221
𝑎9 = 𝑎8 + 𝑑
𝑎14 = 𝑎1 + 𝑑
𝑎4 = 𝑎3 + 𝑑
= 106 + -23
= -9 + -23
= 221 + -23
= 83
= -32
= 198
𝑎10 = 𝑎9 + 𝑑
𝑎15 = 𝑎14 + 𝑑
𝑎5 = 𝑎4 + 𝑑
= 83 + -23
= -32 + -23
= 198 + -23
= 60
= -55
= 175
𝑎11 = 𝑎1 + 𝑑
𝑎6 = 𝑎5 + 𝑑
= 60 + -23
= 175 + -23
= 37
= 152

Hence, the first fifteen terms are:

267, 244, 221, 198, 175, 152, 129, 106, 83, 60, 37, 14, -9, -32 and -55
Mathematics works hand in hand with economics because it primarily deals
with numbers, graphs, statistics and the like that is very useful in economic. For
example, business organization uses graphs to monitor their company’s sales and
growth over time. Also, economics also uses statistics to determine the number of
demand and supply.

Mathematics is widely used in Management specifically for resource

allocation, budget, salaries and the like that is useful to make an efficient and
effective management. For example, Math is used to determine sales and profit
and even losses. Through this, the business can determine if their management is
right or is in need to be reformed,
