Operational Department (Core Department)

• Front Office

Reservation, Guest service, Check-in, Check-out, Telephone, Finance & Cashiering, Foreign
Exchange, Room Assignment, Inquiry, and so on are the main functions of this department. The Front
Office is also known as the hotel's nerve center.

• Food and Beverage Service

Food and beverage service plans, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates the operations of
restaurants, bars, cafeterias, and other food and beverage-serving businesses. Restaurants, bars, hotels,
and resorts, among others.

• Food/Kitchen Production

The Food Production or Kitchen department's role is to prepare food for the guests. Guests who
are staying in hotel rooms as well as walk-in guests who come to the restaurants to eat.

• Housekeeping

One of the most important responsibilities of housekeeping is to clean or refresh guest rooms
while guests are away or when a room is between guests. Every morning, the housekeeping department
replenishes hospitality carts with towels, fresh linens, cleaning supplies, and toiletries, and housekeepers
proceed to their assigned floors.
Administrative Department (Non-Core Department)

 Maintenance Department
Many maintenance and repair duties are performed by the Maintenance Department in
response to staff requests, on a regular schedule, or as requested by site Administrators and/or
Maintenance Department personnel during regular or special inspections.

 Accounting Department
Customers' cash payments for items sold and services performed are tracked and
accounted for by the accounting department. It's also in charge of invoicing and keeping
track of them. Customers are also sent pleasant reminders by the accounting department to
ensure that they pay their invoices on time.

 Human Resource Department


A hotel's human resource department is responsible for anticipating, acquiring, selecting,
and developing the hotel's current and future employee needs. The processes of
employment appraisal, recruiting, selection, and orientation are also included.

 Electronic Data Processing Department


EDP is in charge of the department's computer network system installation and
maintenance. The primary goal is to keep the network running smoothly. Installing,
configuring, and repairing computer hardware, software, systems, networks, and printers,
among other things.
 Communication Department
The front office staff communicates with one another within the department to provide the
best possible visitor services, such as reserving accommodations, registering guests,
managing guest accounts, handling guest mail, and providing individualized guest services.

 Security Department
Reports irregularities and informs violators of policy and procedures of losses and harm.
Patrols the property and monitors surveillance equipment and entry points to keep the
premises and personnel safe.
Security breaches, events, and other unusual conduct are investigated.

 Purchasing Department
A purchasing department is the component of a company that is in charge of acquiring the
goods and services that the firm needs to run. Procurement departments or buying
departments are terms used by some corporations to describe purchasing departments.

 Sales and Marketing Department


A sales and marketing department is in charge of determining where the company should
sell and how much it should charge. This includes deciding whether or not the company
will use middlemen such as wholesalers, distributors, or retailers.
