PT: Speech in Moral Dilemma

The Moral Dilemma of Extra Judicial Killings (EJK)

Good day everyone! I will ask a simple yet a serious question to all of you. Upon
scrolling on your social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter have you seen the news about
the (EJK) or the Extra Judicial Killings? If not, I will enlighten all of you regarding this moral
dilemma that is happening in our country that would make a huge change in the future of the
country. Way back June 30, 2016, Rodrigo Duterte became the President of the Philippines. His
main advocacy was cleansing the Philippine society from illegal drugs where in his people in the
PNP or the Philippine National Police are given the license to be reckless and absolute towards
the society. The police also have the power to investigate, to deny defense and to execute people.
Different dark scenarios happened in the on-going battle on drugs, were in based on the
investigation a lot of police were claiming that the suspects attacked them and in the end the
police destabilized the whole procedure. In fact, the police are killing guilty people but
undeniably there is a huge chance that, majority of the people they have killed is legally
innocent. Extra judicial killing is severe because it creates majority of injustices. Do you not
notice that the justice system in our country is not that progressive and effective? Then, these
should not be an excuse for reckless killings, that innocent family are also affected. As this battle
on drugs continues, a lot of citizens are having a battle of their own if these is beneficial to the
society or it is just a moral sin committed by the people behind the battle which is clearly related
to the saying of Jensen DG. Manebog that “Moral standards involve serious wrongs or
significant benefits”. Upon reading some articles I saw these quote by Raymund Narag saying
“There is no excuse to undermine our already fragile laws and weak constitution”. This basically
summarize the on-going battle on drugs that leads to extra judicial killings, the laws in our
country does not give justice to the word impartiality or “fairness”. Were in fact, there are a lot
of corrupt government officials that are handling our weak constitution. While we do not bother
the corrupt practices of the people behind this war, the prosecutors, defense lawyers and the
judges, and exposing injustices towards the affected people, with all of this we are all morally
guilty. Good day and thank you for listening!
