From the four water treatments enumerated in Chapter 1, choose the best treatment that can be
used in your barangay and explain why. State some of the existing situations in your barangay
that will collaborate with your chosen treatment.

Location : Barangay Lodlod, Lipa City, Batangas

Whenever rainy season is approaching, the residents of Barangay Lodlod are not surprised
for a continuous power interruption in the area. In line with this, whenever it happened the flow of
water also stop functioning. Barangay Lodlod is situated at approximately 13.9306, 121.1415, in
the island of Luzon. Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at 328.2 meters or 1,076.8 feet
above mean sea level, basically it is a high area. The Barangay is also a location for mining
industries in the past years that summed up that there was a deep area in the Barangay that is
perfectly to be considered in well water construction. With the current problem, the best treatment
that can help the residents and solve the problem is filtration by putting up “well water”. The
topography and soil type of the area influences the location of the well, which the resident should
consider that the location of the Barangay is not a land prone flooding and drainage area that is
why the Barangay is a perfect location for putting up a well. A main advantage of well water is
that it is the cheapest way to deliver water to your home. All things considered, well water is much
more reasonable than municipal water and provides long-term savings. Filtration systems is the
most common treatment to be used for the well that removes impurities from water by means of
physical barrier, chemical and other biological process. The groundwater beneath the area is
important because it is the well water source. That water may rest in an underground reservoir or
within layers of porous sediment like sand, silt, and gravel. Sometimes groundwater is only a few
feet beneath the surface or can be a hundred feet deeper. Residents of the Barangay can also
consider putting up a water filtration system. There are different varieties of water filtration
systems, and it will depend on the price. One of it is the Master Whole House 3- Stage Water filter
that is beyond the best filter system for the houses. It is recommended that if a house is using a
well water should have a filtration system that removes the sediments, algae and other metals and
minerals.
