Formative Assessment # 6

1. Yes. Although art can be a wonderful investment, it is not a sound financial investment.
Personally, I believe that art is mostly for aesthetic purposes. Korteweg et al. done study on this
topic. (2013) found that the variation in investment returns and risk across all art forms did not
improve the risk/return profile of a standard asset-class-diversified portfolio. As a result, I have
come to the conclusion that art can only be a personal investment for aesthetic gain.
2. Art education, in my opinion, is underestimated around the world because people have
traditionally classified vocations based on their difficulty and pay. People have been so joyless,
culture-less, and swine, as Rebecca McDade put it, that they believe no one needs art as an
education. People do not believe that art can improve the world we live in or that art is essential
to everyone's lives.
3. Even if the works are fantasy and imagination, they rely upon imagery you have learned. Art can
only be done through experience because artistic interpretations of self-expression reflect your
life and experience. Art also necessitates uniqueness and creativity, both of which can be acquired
through life experiences.
4. Art creation is a way to reconceptualize the future, to create bridges and nurture understanding, to
expand empathy, make friends, express feelings, build self-confidence, to learn how to be flexible
and open-minded, to be exposed to different ideas and learn to listen to the perspectives of others,
and to collaborate. These are all qualities that can aid in the promotion of peace.
a. Radha Krishna by Sabir Haque, Mayapur
The dove is seen as a sign of peace and everlasting love. Sabir Haque uses nature to
personify the adored Radha Krishna, and their love to portray the calm that comes with
having someone you can love unreservedly.
b. Peace by Avinash Trivedi, Kolkata
Water, in and of itself, has the power to promote serenity and harmony. The artist teases
out the calm waves shaking the boat from side to side, much like a child in a crib, slowly
slipping into blissful slumber.
