Procedure for Surface Function Test

Acoustic Pod
Rev # Comment Date
1 Original 9/26/2016
2 Changed Casing Shear Ram to Lower Blind Shear Ram 3/21/2018

1 Objectives
1.1 Conduct incident free operations

1.2 Use this procedure to ensure functionality of Acoustic Pod after maintenance
has been performed or valves replaced.

2 Pre-Job Preparation
2.1 Ensure there is NO TEST JOINT in the BOP prior to putting pressure to the
Acoustic Pod
Bob Douglas Page |2

2.2 Have the NASeBOP test box next to the stack with the dunking transponder
connected.

2.3 Place the dunking transponder onto the split head transducer (if
communications are not established, place dunker in water)

2.4 Turn the NASeBOP test box on and establish communications with the pod.

2.5 Connect external hydraulic supply into the Acoustic Pod near the pilot
accumulator bottles and insure there are no functions active.

2.6 Once there are hydraulics established, verify the gauge on the pod reads
3,000psi.

2.7 Fire the DISARM function from the test box. This will insure the SHEAR ISO
VALVE is in the block position, pod is in disarm, and all other functions are in
the vent position. (Verify the disarm gauge on the pod reads 3,000psi)

2.8 Once there is pilot pressure and disarm pressure present, allow to stabilize and
close valve from external hydraulic source and remove hose.

2.9 Charge the Acoustic Accumulators from the simulator touch pad. (Reduce the
system hydraulic pressure to 3,000psi from the auxiliary HPU unit)

2.10 From this point on see below procedure for verifying components function
properly.

3 Test Procedure for Acoustic Pod

3.1 Have personnel on top of the BOP to verify the functions.

3.2 Fire the DISARM function from the NASeBOP control box. Verify the pressure
on the pod is 3,000psi on the NON-SHEAR DISARM gauge. __3000__psi
Bob Douglas Page |3

3.3 Fire the ARM function from the NASeBOP control box. Verify the pressure on
the pod is 3,000psi on the NON-SHEAR ARM gauge. 3000 psi

3.4 Fire the Upper Blind Shear Ram close function (this will allow the SHEAR ISO
VALVE to open and the UBSR will close. (After close go back to DISARM) Open
the UBSR with the control system. ____43.9___gallons

3.5 Fire the Lower Blind Shear Ram close function (this will allow the SHEAR ISO
VALVE to open and the LBSR will close. (After close go back to DISARM) Open
the LBSR with the control system. ___41.7_gallons

3.6 Install a 6,000psi gauge on the control line going to the Pipe Ram 2. Fire the
Middle Pipe Ram close function. This is fed through the manifold regulator that
reduces the pressure from 5,000psi to 3,000psi. (After close go back to
DISARM) Open PR-2 with the control system. _3000__gauge pressure

3.7 Fire the All Stabs Retract function. This is fed through the manifold regulator
that reduces the pressure from 5,000psi to 3,000psi. (Insure the Secondary
Cylinders are in the EXTEND position so the female receptacles do not drop)
After verified, go to DISARM and re-establish the functions in their correct
positions. Make sure to go to UNLATCH/DISENGAGE/LATCH/ENGAGE

3.8 Fire the Riser Connector Unlock function and verify the indicator goes to
unlock. (After unlock go back to DISARM) Function the Riser Connector Unlock
with the control system to realign shuttle valve. Function the Riser Connector
Lock from the control system and record gallon count. _14.3___gallons

3.9 Fire the Riser Connector Secondary Unlock function and verify the indicator
goes to unlock. (After unlock go back to DISARM) Function the Riser Connector
Secondary Unlock with the control system to realign shuttle valve. Function the
Riser Connector Lock from the control system and record gallon count.
___12.2____gallons
