1. DESCRIPTION
REVISION NOTICE
This bulletin supersedes the previous TSB HRE21-92-C121-TLe as DESCRIPTIOND’ and ‘SERVICE
PROCEDURE’ were modified. Please discard the previous TSB.
■ Symptom/Condition
An electrical short in the HECU (Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit) module may occur very rarely.
It could increase the risk of an engine compartment fire.
■ Countermeasure
Rework Multi-Fuse if available QQH part on your market, if not proceed with ABS fuse wiring rework,
and regardless the repair method to all vehicles with EPB (Electronic Parking Brake)/MOCI (Motor on
Caliper Installed) perform also the HECU module software update to the latest applicable ROM ID.
NOTE
If the vehicle is not in the applicable VIN List, do not apply the Service procedure nor SW update.

5. SERVICE PROCEDURE
* This TSB guides the procedure of the HECU fuse wiring rework and EPB option HECU update.
Please cut the wiring of ABS1/2 fuse in the multi-fuse of the engine room junction box which were installed
in the vehicle and insert a 25A or 30A fuse (depending on the vehicle specification) in the empty fuse
terminal and connect the wiring to the 25A or 30A fuse (depending on the vehicle specification).
For the vehicles with DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) exchange ABS1/2 with T3/T4 wires and exchange
T3/T4 related fuse to 25A or 30A fuse (depending on the vehicle specification).
To vehicles with EPB/MOCI perform also S/W update.
WARNING
Update the ROM Pack only for 58920 - D7200/D7201/D7210/D7530/D7560/D7630/D7660/D7930/
D7931/D7932/D7950 HECU. If S/W update is performed on the HECU that is not subject, warning
lights may be turned on and ESC operation may cause throbbing and there is a risk of HECU
damage.

* How to check the HECU part number.

I. MULTI FUSE REINSTALLATION

1. Open the hood and disconnect the battery ‘-’
terminal (A).
Tightening Torque:
3.9 ~ 5.9 Nm (0.4 ~ 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 ~ 4.3 lb-ft)

5. Install new supplied multi fuse.
6. Attach the sticker label (E) supplied to the upper
cover ABS1 and ABS2 positions.
NOTE
Fuse spec is different (25A or 30A) according to
the vehicle spec.

II. HECU FUSE WIRING REWORK
Tightening Torque:
3.9 ~ 5.9 Nm (0.4 ~ 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 ~ 4.3 lb-ft) A
Tightening Torque:
7.8 ~ 9.8 Nm (0.8 ~ 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 7.2 lb-ft)

4. Loosen the battery bracket mounting bolt (D) and
remove the battery.
Tightening Torque:
8.8 ~ 13.7 Nm (0.9 ~ 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 ~ 10.1 lb-ft)

7. Remove the ECM mounting bracket.
Tightening Torque:
8.8 ~ 11.8 Nm (0.9 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 6.5 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)
NOTE
When installing it, fix it using supplied band
strap.

10. Open the cover (L) and remove it, Loosen the
mounting bolt.

13. Check the location of the above image wiring
(O).
- 3 / 4 wiring.
CAUTION
Make sure to check the wiring location before
cutting.

14. Check the fuse power supply wiring and cut the

It is possible to tie the insulating wire separately
or together for the unused wiring.

16. Take off the cut wiring sheath (R) about 15mm.
NOTE
When using the terminal pressing tool (general

tool), it is recommended to use the compressible
tool for the 6.0 SQ(3.0SQ + 3.0SQ)
After joint terminal work, pull the wire and check
if the wire is separated.
CAUTION
When using the hot air heaters, pull the wiring to

driver seat side and use the hot air heaters.
be careful not to damage the wiring.

19. Check the location (U) of the wiring installation
area. T3, T4 should be blank (Non-DCT option).
20. Place the front side (V) of the wiring upward and
assemble it to the terminal (W). V

Red wiring: Insert it outside
White wiring: Insert it inside.
Make sure the wiring front / rear location.

21. Assemble the supplied fuse (X) as shown on the
right picture.
NOTE

update according to the below procedure II. HECU

[Vehicles with DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission)]
CAUTION
When removing the terminal, the tool does not
bend the terminal. (Remove while pushing the
plastic locking part and pulling the wire at the
back).

27. Then during cutting and crimping of
exchangeable wiring positions use methods in points
16 to 20 and reconnect to positions like on photo.

30. If the vehicle is EPB spec, Perform the ESC
update according to the below procedure III. HECU
SOFTWARE UPDATE (WITH EPB ONLY).

■ Cautions during upgrade
1) Please check the 12V battery condition and connect 12V battery charger during S/W updating.
2) Turn off all lamps (Do not leave head lamp switch in auto mode.) and all accessories
(including heater, A/C, blower, radio, seat warmer, defroster, etc.) not to allow the battery to be
discharged during upgrade.
3) Perform upgrade with the ignition switch in the ON position.
4) Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or scan tool during upgrade.
5) Do not set ready during upgrade.
6) Do not turn off the ignition switch during upgrade.
1) Connect the VCI-II into the vehicle's DLC connector under the driver side instrument panel and check to
turn the VCI-II on.

[NOTE]
- ECU upgrade function on GDS-Mobile is basically operating in wireless communication ad Wi-Fi direct.
Also it's possible to be performing via USB cable between Tablet PC and VCI-II.
- Before start the upgrade, must make certain that the battery of Tablet PC is sufficient charged.
7) Upgrade (1/2) will begin and the progress of the upgrade will appear on the bar graph.
8) Upgrade (1/2) will occur until 100% is reached on the bar graph.
9) Upgrade (2/2) will begin and the progress of the upgrade will appear in the bar graph.
10) Upgrade(2/2) will occur until 100% is reached on the bar graph. Turn the ignition key off for 10 seconds,
place it back in the key on position and then tab OK to continue according to information displayed on the
screen.
11) Tab OK on the final screen, which indicates upgrade is complete.
12) Check if any incidental Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTC) have been created by the upgrade and clear the
DTC(s) present.
13) Set ready mode to confirm proper operation of the vehicle.

[CAUTION]
- Do not touch the system buttons(like 'BACK', 'HOME', 'etc.') while performing upgrade.
- Do not start the engine.

4) The vehicle battery voltage is checked to make sure it is at least 12 voltages to assure reliable upgrade
results. Click OK if the results indicate voltage is ok.
[NOTE]
- If voltage is below 12 voltages as below, click BACK and then run the engine to assure an adequate
battery charge state for reliable upgrade results.
5) Upgrade (1/2) will begin and the progress of the upgrade will appear on the bar graph.
6) Upgrade (1/2) will occur until 100% is reached on the bar graph.
7) Upgrade (2/2) will begin and the progress of the upgrade will appear in the bar graph.
8) Upgrade (2/2) will occur until 100% is reached on the bar graph. Turn the ignition key off for 10 seconds,
place it back in the key on position and then tab OK to continue according to information displayed on the
screen.
9) Tab OK on the final screen, which indicates upgrade is complete.
10) Check if any incidental Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTC) have been created by the upgrade and clear the

11) Set the ready mode to confirm proper operation of the vehicle.
