Laboratory Activity no. 2

Basic Logic Gate Familiarization

Objectives:

To identify various Integrated Circuits (ICs) and their

specification a. OR gate
b. AND gate
c. NOT gate

Required Resources
∙ PC with Logic gate simulator
∙ IC – 7408 (AND)
∙ IC – 7432 (OR)
∙ IC – 7404 (NOT)

Background / Scenario

AND GATE
The AND gate performs a logical multiplication commonly known as AND
function. The output is high when both the inputs are high. The output is
low level when any one of the input is low

OR GATE
The OR gate performs a logical addition commonly known as OR function.
The output is high when any one of the inputs is high. The output is low
level when both inputs are low.

NOT GATE

The NOT gate is called an inverter. The output is high when the input is low.
The output is low when the input is high

Procedures:
1. Using logic gate simulator construct the basic circuit diagram for AND
gate and verify its truth table.
2. Using logic gate simulator construct the basic circuit diagram for OR
gate and verify its truth table.

3. Using logic gate simulator construct

the basic circuit diagram for NOT gate and verify its truth table.
Observation:

As I worked on this task, I saw that it was not as difficult as the last circuit
we accomplished because we had references or module. We follow the
processes and learn how to build circuits on our own. We also read instructions
in order to get specific solutions and a better and amazing circuit work.

Conclusions:

To conclude, I noticed that even though I utilized a simulator, the results

were the same as they were on the breadboard. My knowledge and skills
that I gained also remained the same. The simulator is more affordable and
the best way to save money, especially nowadays.
