1.0 Warning – the slackline is a dangerous piece of
equipment

Before using the slackline you are strongly advised to read the
manual. The slackline is a dangerous piece of equipment and
should only be used with the greatest care.

The slackline must only be used in the manner described in the

manual. The slackline has solely been developed to for balancing
on it. The manufacturer and retailer of this product is not liable for
any misuse of the product.

Special attention should be given to:

• The slackline must only be fixed on sturdy ground
• The slackline must only be used by minors under
supervision
• The slackline has to be installed out of the reach of minors

Please take care to make sure all parts of the slackline are
checked and maintained on a regular basis. Lack of maintenance
or use of spare parts not provided by the manufacturer will
impact on the performance and will shorten the lifespan of the
product.

The manufacturer and retailer are not liable for any damage to
individuals or property as a result of using the product.

Please note that Gibbon Slacklines have been developed

specifically for slacklining. Please refrain from using regular
tension belts as these can easily deteriorate and due to lower
level of flexibility exert more tension to joints.

1.1 Warranty

As the manufacturer of this product we give a warranty of two

years from the date of purchase. Within this warranty period we
will by our choice repair or replace any faults caused by failure of
the material or production faults without any charges. This is a
dangerous device and should be handled with care.

Excluded from the warranty are any damages caused by misuse,

normal deterioration, and faults which have no direct influence on
the functionality of the product. Use of any parts not supplied by
Gibbon Slacklines will void this warranty.

A claim can only be granted in conjunction with the

corresponding receipt.

2.0 Further Warnings – please read carefully

In the assembled state the Gibbon Slackline can have a tension

of up to 7kN (700kg). Because of this it is important to exercise
great caution when using the product. Due to the high tension of
the slackline, too much, uncontrolled, or careless movement can
lead to falling off and leading to injuries. Persons not engaged
should always maintain a safe distance (at least 2m) away from
the slackline.

Following extensive testing a maximum strain of 50kN (5t) has

been established for the stitching and ratchet. This guarantees a
high degree of stability and tear strength. But since movement
increases the tension, only person must be using the slackline at
any given time.
ENGLISH
2.1 Attention:

Don’t use any other parts to install the slackline other than the
ones provided by Gibbon Slacklines. The ratchet is to be used
with extreme caution and must not be used by minors. The
slackline strap must not exceed two and a half rotations around
the axel of the ratchet. The tension on the lever of the ratchet
must not exceed 440N (40k) to prevent a seizure of the system.

This set must not be assembled between two vehicles (e.g. cars)
since the tension can easily exceed the above stated safety limit
(this is not possible when using the ratchet between two static
points). This set must not be assembled as a highline (any height
above 50 cm).

Slacklining is a beautiful sport, but its dangers should never be

underestimated!

3.0 Assemby

the Gibbon Slackline has been specifically designed for a quick

and easy assembly. The slackline consists of just two
components:

The band:
50mm wide Gibbon Flexband with covered
strap

The ratchet:
Fixed to a 2m, 50mm wide Gibbon Flexband
with covered strap
ENGLISH
Only use the components of our Slackline-set! Only then, and in
conjunction with the safety guidelines, can the product be used
safely.

3.1 Anchorage

In order to avoid damage to the materials, the Gibbon

Slackline must only be fixed on trees, which have a
minimum circumference of 1m (30cm diameter) and a
maximum circumference of 1.8m. Ensure that the trees
can withstand the minimum force of 10kN (1t). When fixing
the slackline, please use a piece of carpet or a rubber mat
to prevent unnecessary damage.

3.2 Anchorage of the band:

Look for a suitable place and wrap the

band flat around the stem at a height of
approximately 50cm. Thread the band
through the strap to form a noose
around the stem of the tree.

In order to ensure a horizontal alignment

of the band, simply fold the band when
treading it through the strap.

3.3 Anchorage of the ratchet:

Same as with the band, look for a suitable

and wrap the band attached to the ratchet
flat around the stem at a height of
approximately 50cm. Thread the ratchet
through the strap to form a noose around
the stem of the tree.
ENGLISH
In order to ensure a horizontal alignment
of the band, simply fold the band when
treading it through the strap.

To minimise the risk of injury we advise

installing the ratchet with the lever facing
down.

3.4 Connecting the band to the ratchet:

Release the ratchet (pull on the small lever

inside the ratchet) and open the main
lever.

Thread the band through the slot in the

axel and continue threading the band
through the band connected to the ratchet
and the main lever.

Tension the band and using one hand hold

it together with the band from the ratchet.
The slackline must not exceed two and a
half rotations around the axel of the
ratchet. The tension on the lever of the
ratchet must not exceed 400N (40k) to
prevent a seizure of the system. (Please
refer to point 2.1)

As soon as the band is fully tensed check

the ratchet to ensure that the bolt rests
neatly in the cogging and bring the lever
back up to a horizontal position.

Feel free to further tense the band

according to your personal preference.
