First Quarter – Learner’s Activity Sheet 1: Introduction to Entrepreneurship

Republic Act 8293, section 176 states that: No copyright shall subsist in any
work of the Government of the Philippines. However, prior approval of the
government agency or office wherein the work is created shall be necessary for
exploitation of such work for profit. Such agency or office may, among other things,
impose as a condition the payment of royalties.

and the process is called “Entrepreneurship”.
Entrepreneurs are innovators, willing to take risks and generate new
ideas to make it unique and profitable solutions to the present-day problems.
3. Factors Affecting Entrepreneurship
a. Personality Factors which includes:
i) Initiative- which means doing things even before being told
ii) Proactive-which means he can classify opportunities and seize it.
iii) Problem Solver- which means he can retain good relations with other
people
iv) Perseverance-meaning he will pursue things to get done regardless of
challenges
v) Persuasion- means that he can entice people to buy even if they don’t.
vi) A Planner- meaning he makes plan before doing things and do not fail
to monitor it.
vii) Risk-taker which means that he is willing to gamble but he will calculate
it first.
b. Environmental Factors which includes political, climate, legal system,
economic and social conditions and market situations.
4. Common Competencies in Entrepreneurship
a. Decisive- firm in making decisions.
b. Communicator- one who can convince and persuade people.
c. Leader-have the charisma to be obeyed/followed by his employees.
d. Opportunity seeker- have the ability to be the first to see business
chances.
e. Proactive- controlling a situation by making things to happen or by
preparing for possible future problems.
f. Risk Taker- they have the courage to pursue what is their business ideas.
g. Innovative- an individual who initiates, creates new and worthwhile ideas
for a business to grow/prosper.

5. Core Competencies in Entrepreneurship
a. Economic and dynamic activity- Entrepreneurship is an economic activity
because it involves the creation and operation of an enterprise with a view
to creating value or wealth by ensuring optimum utilization of limited
resources.
b. Innovative- Entrepreneurs constantly look for new ideas, thus he needs to
be creative.
c. Profit Potential- meaning the entrepreneur can be compensated by his
profit coming from the operation.
d. Risk taker – a person who is willing to take the risk no matter what.
6. Types of Entrepreneurs
a. Innovative entrepreneur- they are those who always make new things by
thinking of new ideas.
b. Imitating entrepreneurs- they are those who don’t create new things but
only follow the ideas of other entrepreneurs.
c. Fabian entrepreneurs- they are those skeptical. They don’t initiate but
follow only after they are satisfied.
d. Drone entrepreneur- they are those who lives on the labor of others. They
are die-hard conservatives even ready to suffer the loss of business.
e. Social entrepreneurs-they are those who initiate changes in the various
fields such as education, health, human rights, environment and
enterprise development.
7. Career Opportunities of Entrepreneurship
a. Business Consultant- with the entrepreneurs’ expertise he can be hired as
business consultant and could have the chance to be in business.
b. Teacher- a graduate of an entrepreneurship can use his knowledge in
teaching
c. Researcher- an entrepreneur can be employed as business researcher by
an enterprise.
d. Salesperson- the entrepreneurship graduate can apply as salesman
e. Business Reporter- the entrepreneur being expert in the field can be
employed as business reporter.

Explore job opportunities for entrepreneurship as a career. List down at least
5 local entrepreneurs in the community. Identify their common traits and write it on
a sheet of paper then answer the following questions below:
1. Based on your list, what are the careers of each entrepreneurs in your
locality?
2. What are the common characteristics that you have observed from them?

4. In your own opinion, what characteristics do you need to possess to become
a successful entrepreneur?

Choose three successful entrepreneurs in your community or nearby
places and conduct an interview using the guide questions below. Discuss the
result of your interview to your teacher by making a narrative. Since its pandemic
time, you may use questionnaire or through messenger to avoid face to face
interview.
Guide Questions:
1. What motivated you to become an entrepreneur?
2. What do you think are your characteristics and competencies that made you a
successful entrepreneur?
3. How about seeking for employment? Why did you not choose to be
employed?

Directions: Explore job opportunities for Entrepreneurship as a career. Choose on

1. Why are you interested with such product/service? Or if none of the choices,
what is it?
