Opening activity: We use Conditional Sentences Type 1 for something which is possible to

happen in the present or future.

The Conditional sentences consist of the if-clause and the main clause.

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan was the best-known basketball player of his


time. His career started in the early 1980's, when he played
college basketball with the University of North Carolina.
Although he was not the tallest or the strongest player, he
won the attention of his coach for being an excellent athlete.
Probably his most important achievement at that time was scoring the winning basket in
the 1983-1984 championship game.

Jordan left college early to join the professional basketball team, the Chicago Bulls. He
led the Bulls to the best record in professional basketball history. He was voted the most
valuable player five times. Jordan holds several records: the highest scoring average
and the most points in a playoff game.
