PERFORMANCE TASK: SOIL

1. NAME OF THEMUNICIPALITY
Badoc, Ilocos Norte
2. BARANGAY
Bato #13-b
3. SOIL TYPE
There are different types of soil, it includes Sandy soil it is made up of small
weathered rock particles; silt soil, it consists of rock and other mineral particles, smaller
than sand and larger than clay, and has much smaller particles than the sandy soil; clay
soil, it has lesser particle of the other two soil types. The particles in this soil have very
little or no airspace tightly packed together; loamy soil is a sand, silt and clay
combination that includes the beneficial properties of each.
4. SOIL PROFILE: GET A SAMPLE OF YOUR SOIL IN DIFFERENT AREAS
IN YOUR COMMUNITY AND CHECK THE FOLLOWING: (TAKE A PHOTO)

a. TEXTURE, APPEARANCE, ODOR (IF

APPLIABLE)
 The most common soil type that can be
found around our community is the
combination of sand, silt, and clay soil
which is called loamy soil. Since this type
of soil is a mixture of three different soil,
the stickiness and non-adhesiveness are
balance in a way that is moldable and not
sticky.
b. CAPABILITY TO SUPPORT
VEGETATION
 This type of soil is found everywhere in
our community, particularly on the farms, with that being said, it is safe to
conclude that this type of soul has a high capability to support vegetation.
The high absorption capacity of moisture that provides humidity regulation,
healthy and convenient living conditions and the main benefit of loam-
based dry morterers used as renders, plasters and paints for interior use.
c. ORGANISMS FOUND IN THE SOIL (ENUMERATE VISIBLE
ORGANISM)
 The loamy soil that I have found in our community, or at least the loamy
soil that I have gathered in the farm, no visible organism can be seen.

d. PLACE WHERE IT WAS COLLECTED

 Like mentioned above, this type of soil can be found anywhere in our
community, however, I personally collected this on our backyard where
most of the plants that we collect are located.

5. POTENTIAL SOIL HAZARDS AND ITS PROBLEM IDENTIFIERS:

 For healthy growth, roots are dependent on soil, air and water. The good
health of the soil indicates healthy root systems. One way to determine if
the land is healthy or good is to dig up a plant until the roots come and pull,
if the roots are fine, the soil is healthy, but it is a consequence of drainage
problems when the roots are brown and mushy, while the short, stunted
racine can mean disease or root pests.
6. MAKE PLAN OF PROCEDURES TO PRESERVES THE QUALITY SOIL
In our community, soil is very important for us since majority of the citizens here,
including my relatives are farmers that is why preserving the health of the soil is must for
the people here to continue growing their crops. The basis of productive agriculture is
soil health. Fertile soil supplies the plants with essential nutrients.
FIRST STEP: Check and know the texture of the soil. With this initial step, knowing the
texture of the soil will give you an idea on how to properly take care of the soil in your
community and the restrictions you must have to preserve the health of the soiol.
SECOND STEP: Do not conducting farming procedures that can badly harm the soil. In
agriculture there are a number of approaches. This work can be done and the soil can still
be preserved. No-till farming is an approach that allows crops to remain in place for a
season. This keeps the soil unprotected and bare.
THIRD STEP: Consistently change the crop that you plant on the soil for us to conserve
the soil. This process prevents overgrowth of pathogen and a lack of fertility in the soil as
well.
FOURTH STEP: Water the soil regularly, this procedure is very simple but has the
ability to provide nutrients and benefits to our soil. This step will help to preserve and
protect vthe soil.
FIFTH STEP: In the soil around us, there are a variety of things. To make your soil
healthy, you can add earthworms. This method of conservation encourages organic
material decomposition. That are the regular practices of earthworms. It improves the
soil's nutrient absorption ability.
