Born a peasant, Aquino Mournspire found his calling when the kingdom
in desperation called a draft. With a hidden insight in battle and robust
body formed from years of hard labor, He quickly rose to the ranks and
took the rank of officer. Finding camaraderie, glory, and honor in
battlefield, and seeing the happy and protected smiled of the people, he
was happy in his lot in life. However this all changed when he received a
top secret order from the higher ups. The kingdom was growing tired of
war and had already send and received multiple failed peace treaties,
but after years of negotiations and a weakening, the kingdom had finally
relented. A peace treaty had been signed.

As part of this treaty the enemy must win with honor and the kingdom
had given up large swathes of land, including the land Mournspire was
protecting and cultivating all his life. Mournspire was secretly ordered to
charge against the enemy, lose so greatly as to force a retreat, and give
up all land till the marshes. In essence, Mournspire was ordered to
betray his men and people. As expected for a man such as he, he
rebelled against this honor and fought greatly and routed the army he
was supposed to lose to. It was only the great maneuvering of his
superiors, that this action did not spark decades more of war.

Mournspire was dishonorably discharged and all his awards and land
revoked. The comrades and glory he had once, forever lost. The soldiers
who were led with lies, cursed his name. Those who knew the truth,
could not contact him. For months he spent most of his days in turmoil
and alcohol. Loosing himself from regret and tears. Even his wife,
friends, and kids could not rise him to his former glory. Mournspire was a
truly broken man. But alas, a second tragedy took, or perhaps a blessing
in disguise?

One fateful night, Mournspire in a drunken stupor was kidnapped with


not the wiser. Mournspire had been kidnapped by a burgeoning lich. He
was not the first victim nor the last, but he was special. As a retired
soldier, he still had a body that could endure the strong negative energy
emanating from the laboratory. Mournspire was the perfect lab rat.
Subject to multiple necromantic experiments, Mournspire lost even more ADDITIONAL FEATURES & TRAITS
himself under the watchful and critical gaze of his tormenter. By the time
adventurers called & the necromancer killed, Mournspire was a very
changed man.

The many cruel experiments had not only broken and scarred his body
but his soul as well. It would not be inaccurate to say that his soul was
torn in two. The man that came out of that hellhole, could not be called
Mournspire any longer, but that was not what the people saw.
Mournspire became a happier, more innocent man, younger even.
Unburdened by sins, he had given hope to his friends and family that he
had become a better man. But that was not what the soul in Mournspire's
body felt.

The soul in Mournspire's body was not him. Being called friend and
family by people he could only vaguely recall, forced into a role that he
was most certainly not. That soul felt that all he was doing was giving
false hope to these people. He was not Mournspire, Mournspire had died
there. He truly felt that the dead should stay dead, let not this people be
deceived any longer. With stonecold certainty he decided to move on
and hopefully this folks as well. Giving himself a new name (Re), he
braved the new frontiers, hoping for new memories, new friends, and
new life.

"I hope they forgive me."

(In essence Re is like a half-baked clone of Mournspire)
