Plan of the day-
(1) Observe the Supply water system in Bambaiya Harlal village
(2) Prepare a report of the process

Objective-
(1) Understanding the process of supply water system
(2) Identifying the problems in system

Work Done-
On 19th of February I was given the task of visiting the Bambaiya
Harlal village and prepare a report on the supply water system
functioning there. The Bihar government recently started its
flagship project named Nal Jal yojna. Under this every house in
rural area is equipped with supply water. A big overhead water
tank is created in each ward of village and from there peoples are
given connection. The responsibility to manage water tank is
given to the secretary of ward. He has to run the motor and open
the water flow for fixed hours. Every connection user had to pay
30 Rs per month for using it and from that collected money
electricity bills and maintenance cost is managed. In almost every
ward of panchayat it was functional but having some issues. First
one is that the pipes and tap used in this system are of low
quality. In village several places had problem of water logging
because of this. Another issue is that water supply is not frequent
as per the schedule instructed. Some remote parts of the wards
are not connected with this system and also the connections were
not given in the settlements of Mushar community. They were
having electricity connection but not this. The quality of water
supplied is not up to the mark as it was instructed by the
government that it should be drinkable. I took sample from the few
water tanks for testing purposes.
Observation and Analysis-: It is a very ambitious project of the
government and lot of attention is given to it but while creating the
project a lot of environmental norms were not taken care of. Deep
borings are made everywhere and it caused in decrease of water
levels. Old handpumps and borings stopped giving water.

Use of Theory-: The theories and skills used by me were

observation and communication skill. Also I enquired with all the
stakeholders of community.

Difficulties Faced:- As it was related with government projects

while visiting the field a lot of resistance was faced by me.

Future Plan : - I will visit the village after sometimes to see the
functioning of system.
