Dear Marla Mazer,

It has come to my attention through Charity Village that Culture Shock Canada is looking for a Volunteer Program
Manager.

I would be delighted to work with you on the administration and management of youth programming and youth
outreach because I am committed to working in a field that promotes community inclusion, story-telling, and arts
education. I am especially interested in the prospect of acting as a Youth Outreach Ambassador because of my interests
in connecting with the local community and building partnerships, which is why I am enthusiastic to share what I can
offer your organization.

I am a proud holder of a B.F.A in Studio Arts and a B. Ed in Visual Arts with seven years of art administration and
education management. Currently, I have completed the Arts Administration and Cultural Management Graduate
Certificate program at Humber College and am looking for a summer placement.

I am well acquainted with your posting’s requirements in coordinating logistics behind the scenes to produce impactful
programming. While in my program at Humber, I combined my interest in the arts education with business management
skills to create a plethora of toolkits on strategic planning and online event coordination, building partnerships with
venues and sponsors, payroll and the accounting cycle, and board governance and staff/volunteer relations.

I gained an aptitude for detail orientation as a Creative Learning & Programs/Event Intern at the McMichael Canadian
Art Collection by updating all of the creative programming documents into a digital archive to be on par with the most
current Ontario curriculum standards. On top of this, I created logistic reports and for gallery docents; reviewed
booking/scheduling and volunteer coordination procedures, aided with the McMichael’s press release for teachers,
researched new survey options for gathering teacher feedback, and assisted with set up, tear down, and wayfinding for
curatorial talks.

Time management, administration, and effective communication are all skills I learned at my previous employment,
Achievemore Education-a private arts school in Markham. Working alongside the director and principal, I managed the
weekly timetable, pickup schedule, and tracked the art supply inventory while preparing teacher timesheets, working
accounts receivable, and problem-solving any scheduling conflicts with teachers and students. On top of this, I created
and implemented the school’s Fine Arts, Language Arts, and ESL programming for K-12 learners, creating and conducting
both formal and informal assessment tools to acquire student feedback. During this time, I also directed Online English
classes and Adult ESL Sessions. Often, I promoted the school to different stakeholders, going over class content, cost,
teacher availability, and highlighting previous students’ progress. I have also prepared in the hiring and onboarding of
new staff and volunteers. During the summer programming, I have planned and implemented university and museum
tours for camps.

I have a vast array of experience with teamwork, having worked alongside educators, mentors, and therapists from such
establishments as the Toronto Catholic School Board, the Weston area Pathways to Education, and the Children’s
Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent. By making myself available to these facilities, I took part in various educational and
creative activities, such as working with youth from multicultural backgrounds, at-risk neighborhoods, and those with
varying mental and physical conditions.

I would be thrilled at the prospect of bringing my experiences to Culture Shock Canada. I am available to work weekdays
and weekends immediately either remotely or onsite. I look forward to discussing my skills with you further. I can be
reached at katrinammackew@hotmail.com or at (416)-527-0367.
