Assessing your supply chain

It is necessary to fully understand the supply chain process in order to have a steady growth and
move towards the right direction to have a successful Company. Likewise, it is important to be
able to assess the different processes happening within the supply chain so the company is more
competitive in the international market.

With that in mind, it is worth highlighting the role of being able to speak a second language like
English in every international business, especially the ones involved within the International
Physical Distribution. By speaking this second language distances become no longer a process to
exchange knowledge with the entire world.

That is why, in order to help you to strengthen your skills with this foreign language, you must
develop the following workshop. Read and answer the following questions:

1. Read the following questionnaire and answer the questions below:

  What kind of questions are mainly used to self-assess the given supply chain? Why do
you think it happens? Explain.
R/ Questions related to the type of production, delivery time, type of technology used,
type of transport, etc.

This happens to establish trust with production and all stages of the chain

 Why do you think it is important to have different types of questions to assess a supply
chain?

R/ This is important since in this way risks are reduced when implementing the supply
chain and thus complete deliveries with time and quality.

 What aspects of the supply chain are being evaluated by means of the given
questionnaire? Explain.

R/ In the questionnaire, sales strategies, technology implementation strategies and

inventory cost reduction are being analyzed.

 What kind of information can be analyzed to improve the current situation of the supply
chain?

R/ To improve the supply chain, delivery times and production times should be analyzed,
geographic information could also be analyzed to define the shortest routes to reduce
costs.

2. After analyzing the previous self-assessment questionnaire and checking the complementary
material “Sample supply chain management questionnaire”, create your own questionnaire,
including different types of questions to assess one of the following aspects (select only
one):

 Customer experience.

 Customer service.

 Transportation management.

of the raw material?

6: How do you rate the delivery activity of the department?

7: Is there any case recorded by the supply chain department in which the production
department complained late delivery of raw materials?

8: Do you think the way the product was delivered was appropriate?
9: What would you improve in the delivery stage of our organization?
10: Would you recommend our products and our methods to your friends or acquaintances?

3. Remember to include a short paragraph to explain why this questionnaire is important for
 you as the Distribution Manager and for the company itself. The questions you ask must
cover different aspects of the topic being evaluated. You must create minimum ten (10)
questions and maximum, twenty (20). Do not forget to include open and closed questions.
The potential information you collect, will be useful to make your company be better.

R/ This questionnaire would help me in my job since in this way we know how the
organization seemed to the client and its management to deliver their products, we could
also know what the client would like to improve in their waiting stage for the product.

4. Send the file to the instructor through the virtual learning platform.

Environment required: Virtual Learning Environment.

Materials: computer, internet, training material “Questionnaires and Surveys: a smart way to
sharpen your supply chain”, complementary materials “Survey questionnaire” and “Sample
supply chain management questionnaire”, glossary and SENA library.

When you finish your work, send the file to your instructor through the platform as follows:
