Project and Presentation Instructions

1 Project and Presentation Questions


1. Choose one of the following questions:

(Q1) Project (CLO4): Research and write an original essay comparing the
jurisprudence of two religious philosophers.
Presentation (CLO3): Explain how one eastern ancient philosopher views
property rights in abstract objects such as intellectual property rights
(Q2) Project (CLO4): The critical race theory explores how race and racism have
shaped American law and society. Compare the socioeconomic status of the
coloured and the white majority that have contributed to society’s inequality
in the United States.
Presentation (CLO3): In many societies, cultural relativism conflicts with the
universal rights of women. Explain how this could be resolved by supporting
the feminists’ cause and changing society’s profoundly rooted view by political
persuasion.
(Q3) Project (CLO4): Animal Farm is a metaphor for human society and
government. What lego-political ideologies in the human world do the farm
animals represent? Research and write a critical analysis of at least three
Lego-political ideologies; discuss in what ways these ideologies are equivalent
to ideologies in the modern world.
Presentation (CLO3): Prepare a dramatical presentation of the philosophical
encounter between Hart and Fuller in their debate.

2 General Instruction
2. Students must form a project group consisting of 5 members. Register your group
through the appropriate link in the Google Classroom.

3. The marking scheme for the Project (CLO4) (20%) is:

• Content organisation (5%)
• Appropriate analysis (5%)
• Fluency of written language (5%)
• Citation style (OSCOLA), spelling, typographical and formatting (5%).

4. The marking scheme for the Video Presentation (CLO3) (20%) is:

• Content (10%)
• Presentation (10%).

3 Project
5. The project is to be completed in the form of a written submission together with
any accompanying documents.

6. The maximum word limit for your project submission, including footnotes, is 5,000
words. Marks will be deducted for exceeding this limit.

7. The submission must be written in British English, and not American English.
The only exceptions are for computer-related terms such as ‘computer program’
and ‘software license’. Marks will be deducted for inappropriate spelling.

8. Please pay attention also to conventions in spelling, e.g. the word ‘Internet’ is always
spelt in capitalised ‘I’.

9. Your submission should be type-written on single-sided A4 pages, using 12-point


Times New Roman font in 1.5 spacing, with a one-inch margin. The first page of
your submission must be the Assignment Cover Page attached herewith.

10. All citations must use the OSCOLA, 4th edition, citation style, in the footnotes.
Information on OSCOLA can be found here: https://www.law.ox.ac.uk/oscola.

11. Do not plagiarise from the Internet or other sources. The assignment should be
written in your own words, except for quotations. Appropriate references should be
made in the footnotes. Do not, in any case, cite Wikipedia or any publicly editable
websites, as a source.

12. Submissions are subject to strict plagiarism check and the similarity rate should
not be more than 25% excluding footnotes.

13. Your submission should be divided into different sections using appropriate headings
(in bold). Submission without appropriate section headings may get a low mark.

14. All submissions must be in the form of a pdf file, to be submitted through a file
upload link in Google Classroom.

15. Please name your file in this format: UJP3712 <group number> Q<question
number>.pdf.

4 Video Presentation
16. In addition the the written work in the form of a project, each group must also
produce a video presentation of not more than 15 minutes.

17. The video presentation must answer the Video Presentation (CLO3) question
related to the project question that your group has chosen.

18. The video presentation may be in the form of in-person presentation, presentation
through a series of slides, video documentary with voice-over, animated graphics
like TED-Ed videos, dramatical presentations or any other similar format which is
suitable. Students are encouraged to use their creativity.

19. All videos should have a title screen as well as a closing credit acknowledging
everyone who have contributed to making the video and resources that have been
incorporated into the video. Time used for the closing credit is not counted towards
the 15-minute limit.

20. The video must in 480p (854 x 480) resolution in MP4 format. Please do not upload
a video with a greater resolution as the file size will be big.

21. Please name your file in this format: UJP3712 <group number> Q<question
number>.mp4.

5 Submission
22. Students who are not in any project group, or whose name does not appear on the
below-mentioned Project Cover Page, will be given a zero mark for project and
video presentation. It is the students’ duty to make sure that their name is not
omitted by the Group Leader.

23. The deadline for submission for both the Project and Video Presentation is
Monday, 21 March 2022. Late submissions will not be entertained. It is the
duty of all group members to ensure that your assignment is submitted in time.

24. Submission is through a file upload form on Google Classroom.
