Common Violation!

• In basketball, a violation is
the most minor class of illegal
action. Most violation s are
committed by the team with
possession of the ball , when a
player mishandles the ball or
makes an illegal move.
List of Basketball
violation.
• DOBLE DRIBBLE
• -A double dribble in basketball is a
personal violation given to a player that
either uses two hands to dribble, or stops
with the ball and starts dribbling again. It is
a dead ball turnover, meaning the opposing
team gets the ball out of bounds wherever
the infraction occurred.
• CARRY
• -Carrying is a violation in the game of
basketball. It occurs when the dribbling
player continues to dribble after
allowing the ball to come to rest in one
or both hands. Carrying is similar to a
double dribble because the player
momentarily stops dribbling and then
resumes dribbling.
• KICKED BALL
• -A kicked ball violation in
basketball is the act of striking
the ball with a player's leg or
foot. If a kicked ball violation is
called, the referee will give
possession of the ball to the
other team. There is always
some controversy over what is
and what is not a kicked ball
violation.
• GOALTENDING
• -This is a violation when a player
interferes with the ball when it’s
above the rim, is in its downward
flight to the basket and has the
possibility of going into the basket.
In an NBA and NCAA basketball
game, goaltending is also called if a
player interferes with the ball after it
has already touched the backboard,
is in a downward flight to the basket
and has a chance to go into the
basket.
• OFFENSIVE THREE SECONDS
• -As you know, the offensive 3-second
violation is a violation that is called when
an offensive player without the ball stands
in the key for three seconds or more. It can
also be called against the player who has
the ball. It is called if they are in the key for
three seconds without making a move to
the basket.
• DEFFENSIVE THREE SECONDS
• -A defensive three-second
violation, also known as illegal
defense, is a basketball rules
infraction in the National
Basketball Association (NBA). It is
assessed when a member of the
defending team spends more than
three seconds in the free throw
lane (also called the key, the 16-
foot lane, or "the paint") while not
actively guarding an opponent.
• 8 SECOND VIOLATION
• -Eight-second violation: the
offense fails to cross half court
eight seconds after inbounding
the ball Over-and-back
violation: the offense returning
the ball from the frontcourt to
the backcourt without the other
team touching it Swinging of
elbows
• OVER AND BACK VIOLATION
• -The over and back rule is
a floor violation that results in
the defense being awarded the
ball. The over and back
violation is called when an
offensive player touches back
into the backcourt to retrieve a
loose ball after he has moved
into the frontcourt with both
feet
• ILLEGAL ASSIST
• -Illegal Assists Players are not
allowed to interfere or make
contact with the ball when it is
on the rim. This is called an
illegal assist to score points.
