PPT ON INDUCTION REPORT

ACADEMICS IN VIT CHENNAI


The academics at Vellore Institute of Technology , Chennai was discussed by Prof.
A. Nayeemulla Khan, Dean Academics, VIT Chennai. Sir, Nayeemulla Khan
beganed by the explanation of the Academic calendar for the Fall 2021-22, I st
semester. He had informed students about the CAT- I examination which is the
first exam for freshers yet to commence from the 18th of October 2021. 

He then shed light on the different kinds of semester's at VIT Chennai, which are
the Fall semester which starts on Jul. and ends in Nov. (this year due to a delay in
admissions, the class commencement dates were postponed), Winter semester
which starts on Dec. and goes upto April and Summer semester which is only for
students who got an N or F grade and happens during May or June. 

 After some time, he will explained a sample programme credit structure of B.tech computer science
course was discussed. Next, the different course types were discussed with courses being either
theory only, lab only, theory+lab embedded or theory +tutorial. Later, the credit system was
explained by our dean of academics. Students need a minimum of 16 credits each semester and can
go all the way upto 27 credits. However if a student has a Gpa of less than 4.0 he wil be advised to
take 20 credits per semester.  There were 151 credits to earn by a student to complete a B.tech
degree.
The second session was conducted by the Examination and
Evaluation processes at VIT by Dr. V Sugumaran addresses us.
He firstly welcomed all the freshers student to here in VIT. Then
he started giving the institution credit system are:-

-Preferred courses will be guided as per requirement. 
-Choose the timings/time slots for every courses.
