The COVID-19 pandemic became a major challenge to the health of the world

population. Thus, conducting a webinar like this was very useful because it allows students
to gain more knowledge about this crisis. The webinar talks about the Global Updates on
COVID-19 Infection: Biosafety and Biosecurity held on the 12th of March 2022.
Honestly, I am really interested with this topic from the very beginning. I am
motivated to listen because the topic piqued my interest and curiosity. I can say that the
webinar was very useful and interesting. It is very useful because I gained more knowledge
about COVID-19 Biosafety and Biosecurity, deeper understanding about Molecular
Diagnostics and Laboratory, made me aware of the importance of Reverse Transcription –
Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT- PCR) as a gold standard in testing COVID-19 samples, and
the differences of diagnostic tests such as antibody and antigen assays. However, the topic
that really caught my attention was about the Molecular Diagnostics. The topic was actually
unfamiliar to me that’s why I became so interested in knowing and understanding it.
According to the guest speaker, the Molecular Diagnostics serves as a huge success
for clinical laboratories because it provides more powerful tools for earlier and more
accurate illness diagnosis, and positioning laboratories as major players in the developing
field of customized medicine. Laboratories are having a stronger impact on patient
treatment and care by implementing molecular diagnostics. Therefore, these cutting-edge
systems are assisting clinicians in treating infectious infections more quickly and precisely.
