LESSON N°4 – 4th Year

Date: 18th October

WARM-UP - (10 minutes)

The teacher will enter the room, say hello to the students, control attendance and write
the date on the board. She will ask them to take out the verb chart they completed last
lesson.

PRESENTATION - (20 minutes)

The teacher will divide the class in two groups to play “The donut” as in Password
(Pasapalabra) The teacher will explain the following rules to the students:
• Only one student per group will speak. The rest should remain silent, if not, they
lose.
• The group will have 60 seconds to answer the 7 questions in The Donut picture.
• If a student answers wrong, the group loses a turn, and the teacher continues
with the other group.
• The group that finishes with more right answers and more time spare, wins.
• If the groups are even, there will be a bonus question for students to answer.
They will have to stand up as fast as they can if they know the answer. The first
student that stands up, will have the chance to answer. If he/she answers
wrong, the other group will have the opportunity to answer. The one that
answers right, wins.

ACTIVITY 1 (20 minutes)


Students will have to copy from the board an activity (Appendix 2), in which they will
have to complete sentences with the correct form of the verb in brackets.

ACTIVITY 2 (20 minutes)


Students will be asked if they know how to form the negative form of the Past simple.
After some answers, the teacher will explain it on the board. Students will have to copy
that.
The teacher will ask students to rewrite 5 sentences from the previous exercise.
This exercise will be checked orally with students reading what they have written.

ACTIVITY 3 - (15 minutes)


Students will be asked to copy from the board an activity in which they will have to
complete sentences with the correct form of the verbs. In the end of each sentence,
there will be a sign to make them realize if they have to write it in the affirmative or
negative form. This activity will be checked individually, and when the majority of the
group has finished, the correction will be done on the board. (Appendix 3)

ACTIVITY 4 - (15 minutes)


The teacher will start telling students what she did during the weekend. She will use
Past Simple Tense, and then, she will ask students what they did during the weekend.
After introducing the question form, she will explain how to form Yes/No questions.
ACTIVITY 5 - (15 minutes)
Students will have to write yes/no questions with the prompts given (Appendix 4) and
then answer them. This activity will be checked individually, and when the majority of
the group has finished, the correction will be done on the board.

EXTRA ACTIVITY 1
Students will be divided into two teams. The teacher will write a sentence on the board
and one by one, students will have to find the mistake. The team that finds more
mistakes, wins.

APPENDIX

Appendix 1 - The Donut - Password

(I will send you the pictures later because I haven’t finished doing it yet. But it’s the
same as the rosco from Pasapalabra, instead that 26 letters, they will only have 7, so as
to finish quickly.)
