connection as it provides users with a sense of individuality. Despite the benefits of social media, it
negatively impacts the mental health of users, especially young users. A detrimental effect of social
media on many important aspects of an individual’s life may be a sign of addiction. Many people’s
social media use is habitual, but it can start to spill over into other areas of their lives and become
problematic. Habitual use can lead to loss of productivity in both the workplace and educational
setting, steps need to be taken by governments or organizations to help control the use of mobile
devices.
