Assignment 7: Course Readiness Checklist

Assignment 7: Course Readiness Checklist
As seen in the rubric above, I have indicated which elements my course aligns with the

standards, and which ones need to be adjusted. I realized that I did not indicate what technical

skills would be needed to take this course (standard 1.6). Even though the course in not very

complicated, the learners are still young and need to be familiar with skills are needed to

complete the course. I decided to add the needed skills in the introduction of the course on the

course webpage. I explained that the students need to use the iPad skills they have been working

on, what skills were needed to complete the weekly activities and how to communicate with their

classmates respectfully. Although my objectives are easy to read, they can be modified to be

made clearer to the learners (standard 2.3). I plan to change the objectives to “I can…”

statements that students are familiar with. The other addition I lacked was an explanation for the

materials that are needed for the course (standard 4.2). I made it clear which materials are

required and which ones are recommended but there was not description of why they are needed.

I added a description for both on the supplies page within the course webpage. The description

tells students and families why they must have the required materials and what the recommended

materials might add to the course. I asked families to contact me if they were having any trouble

finding the supplies or understanding what is needed. I have added citations to any of the pages

that have different types of media (standard 4.3). The citations can be found at the bottom of the

topic pages. To let students know when their activities and assessments will be graded, a

feedback time will be added to any activities and assessments on Moodle (standard 5.3). The last

adjustment will be to add a description of what families can do if they need accessible

technologies and how to obtain those technologies (standard 8.1). This will be added within the

technology section in course information as well as the materials and supplies section.
