Implications
Analyze your data. How with data inform future practice?
Collecting and disaggregating data to identify students at-risk of falling into an opportunity gap will
help inform the school counseling programs’ activities, lesson plans, and indirect services. Analyzing
absentee rates by ethnic group, socioeconomic status, and other variables affecting achievement will
help us to recognize which students may benefit from higher tiered academic, social-emotional, and
college-career support. Additionally, we can also hone into student populations by grade level to
create plans that best address their needs for continued achievement as they rise through middle
school, high school, all the way to higher education.
