Systemic Focus
Identify school or system policies, procedures or practices that create or maintain inequities
relevant to this goal.

- Freshmen are all entering their first year Foreman from different middle schools that
may have access to different resources and/or have had different policies in place.
Some middle schools may have transitioned their students to high school more
prepared than others. Some middle schools may have had stronger academic
curriculums than others.
- This is the Freshmen class’s first full in person school year in two years, and first year of
high school. For some, this may be incredibly overwhelming and the combination of
fully in person school amidst a pandemic and transitioning to high school could have led
to an overwhelming amount of stress causing a low GPA.

List 1–2 strategies that could influence systemic change related to this goal.

- A “buddy” program between juniors and freshmen. This could provide guidance to
freshmen and inspire them while empowering juniors to step into a leadership role
before their senior year.
- More participation in extracurriculars could be a motivator for change. If a student is to
participate in extracurricular activities, they need to have a 2.7 GPA at minimum. This
could encourage students to keep up with their studies or else be considered
academically ineligible and not allowed to participate in their extra curriculars.
