Everybody loves movies. We see them at theatres and we watch them on TV. They are
popular with children and adults, too. We can learn from them or we can have a good time
watching them.
We also call movies ‘motion pictures’. ‘Motion’ is a noun for ‘moving’. People tried to
show motion in pictures for centuries. Even prehistoric artists showed animals running in their
cave pictures.
Near the end of the 19th century, several Europeans and Americans tried to make movies.
No one knows who made the first one. New York City had the first movie theatre in 1894.

inventors add sound to movies. Then they added color.

Although there are many celebrations throughout the year, Tet or

A rocket uses fuel to make power for the engine. The fuel is set on fire inside the rocket. As
the fuel burns, it creates gases that have great pressure. These gases are blasted out of the
rocket engines.
These gases all go out the bottom of the rocket engine where it is open.
They come out so fast and with so much power that the rocket is pushed up.
It is pushed up so hard that the rocket overcomes the force of gravity,
which tries to keep everything on the ground. The force that pushes up
against the front of the rocket is called thrust.
Unlike an airplane, a rocket does not use wings to help it fly. It just uses the power and
force created by the burning fuel to make enough thrust.

It takes you about 16 hours to travel from New York to Beijing. Beside, you also have to
wait at the airport, and sometimes you have to transfer onto a different airplane. If you add all

Nowadays, a private company is developing something called ET3 which stands for
“evacuated tube transport technology”. Here is how it works. A tube goes all way from New
York to Beijing. The tube is only a few meters wide. Capsules use move through the tube. Six
people can sit in one capsule. The capsules use electricity instead of gasoline. The capsules can
travel about 6.500 kilometers per hour. That is much faster than airplane – most modern
airplanes usually only fly at about 800 kilometers per hour.
So how is this possible? How can these capsules travel so fast? The answer is that there is
no air inside the tube. When airplanes fly, they have to move through the air. The air slows the
airplanes down. Because there is no air in the ET3 tubes, the capsules are able to move at a very
high speed. Besides, the capsules are quite light. They only weigh 183 kilograms.
It is exciting to think of how ET3 will change in the future. Maybe someday, you will be
able to have lunch in New York and dinner in Beijing.

sources of energy are conventional sources. They are non-renewable and exhaustible sources.
The demand of energy has increased all over the world and the condition poses a threat on the
sources of energy like Petroleum and Natural gas by the year 2030-35 if any alternative
sources do not substitute or supplement them.
The Government of India gives high priority to the use of alternative, non-conventional
and renewable energy sources as supplement to the depleting conventional sources of energy.

energy, Biomass energy etc. These energy sources have huge potential of energy and they can
be useful in various ways.

The solar photovoltaic system which uses solar cells to convert the solar energy into
electrical energy is the most promising and progressive sources of alternative energy.
Wind energy is in form of Kinetic Energy. A blade of windmill is moved by blowing winds
and could be exploited for doing work. Theoretically about 60% of the wind energy can be
converted into other forms of energy. Wind mill farms are being set up in the world to exploit
this energy at suitable places.
Biomass energy is being used in villages but improvement in method and scientific
equipment can increase utilisation. It reduces waste materials and gives cheap energy. Jathropa
is a plant that produces diesel and it is pollution free. Besides the railways lines, Jathropa
planting is in implementation. Hydrogen is also proved to be a great advantageous source of
energy.
Geothermal energy can be used to produce electricity. However, the inner heat of the Earth
not available everywhere which can be commercially exploited. Such potential has been found
in Pegu valley in Jammu and Kashmir in India.
Tidal energy associated with the kinetic energy of tides can be converted into electricity by
using turbine. In the coastal areas this possibility is available.

Cung diện Buckingham

Cung diện Buckingham do Công tước xứ Buckingham và Normanby xây dựng vào năm 1703.
