In reference to OUA-MEMO-00-0122-0122 titled “Celebration of the 18 National
Dental Health Month” with the theme “Brushing is a Must, kahit naka-Mask” and in
reference to DepEd Order No.041 titled “Guidelines on the Implementation of School
Dental Health Care Program (SDHCP), including Medical and Nursing Services” and in
support to the Oplan Kalusugan sa Department of Education (OK sa DepEd) flagship
program ~ Dental Services, the Schools Division of Oriental Mindoro through SGOD-
School Health and Nutrition Section announces “Sagip Ngipin: An Oral Health
Awareness Campaign Series” in the month of February 2022.
‘The activity aims to:
discuss the significance of oral health care to DepEd personnel and learners;
demonstrate interventions to practice excellent oral health; and
enumerate and discuss different oral health problems.

Each week of February will showcase a set of activities that focuses on a specific
oral health topic.
Scheduled topics for the “Sagip Ngipin: An Oral Health Awareness Campaign
Series” which will be streamed via DepEd Tayo Oriental Mindoro Facebook page are as
follows:

DepEd personnel and learners are expected to participate in this virtual activity.
Schools shall also promote oral health education and instructions at home to
learners.
Photo documentation as proof of participation shall be sent to their respective
nurses not later than March 1, 2022. Participants may also post their photos /photo
collages on Facebook using #SagipNgipinSDOrMin as the hashtag.
School nurses shall submit to Division Dentists the consolidated report of schools
which participated in the abovementioned activity not later than March 4, 2022.
Attached to this Memorandum is OUA-MEMO-00-0122-0122 for your reference.
Expenses relative to this activity shall be charged to Division MOOE subject to the
usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations

Subject: | CELEBRATION OF THE 18™ NATIONAL DENTAL HEALTH
MONTH
The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Learner
Support Services - School Health Division (BLSS-SHD), enjoins all field offices and
schools to participate in activities related to the celebration of the 18t National
Dental Health Month from 30 January - 27 February 2022. This is pursuant to
Presidential Proclamation No. 559, s. 2004, titled Declaring the month of February
of Every Year as National Dental Health Month.
‘The theme for this year’s celebration is “Brushing is a Must, kahit naka-
Mask,” to strengthen awareness and reiterate the importance of good oral hygiene
habits by reaching out to all Filipinos to keep their teeth, gums and entire mouth
healthy.
The dentists and other school health personnel in the regions and schools’
divisions shall take the lead in the following activities related to the national
celebration:
1. Utilization of tele-dentistry for home-based consultation and oral health
promotion.
2. Preventive Oral Health Services and Interventions through the following:
a. Distribution of hygiene supplies to learners.
b. Strengthen awareness and reiterate the importance of good oral
hygiene through health education using various social media
platforms;

Grade 3 learners in low-risk areas and where face-to-face classes are
allowed,
3. Promotion of oral health at home including oral health education and
instructions.
4. Coordinate and collaborate with other government agencies and local PDA
Chapters and Affiliates, in support of the activities of the month-long
celebration.
It is reiterated that the provision of the dental services, if applicable, shall
observe the required health standards as per DepEd Order (DO) No. 14., s. 2020
“Guidelines on the Required Health Standards in Basic Education Offices and
Schools.”
In relation to this, all are requested to support the upcoming virtual activities
of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA). Details for the activities mentioned
below may be coordinated with the PDA local chapter of your respective areas.
