TERM END REPORT

NOVALICHES DIOCESAN YOUTH MINISTRY 2019 - 2021


The Novaliches Diocesan Youth Ministry is the youth pastoral arm of the Diocese of Novaliches,
operating under the Commission on Formation. NDYM is geared towards programs
development, formation of youth leaders and PYM animation and strengthening. The way
of proceeding of the commission are as follows: PYM Needs-Oriented, Piloting Basis and
Need/Request Directed.

There are currently eight iPrograms catering to various aspects of the Youth Ministry,
particularly, iCare, iLead, iPray, iRespond, iShare, iStand, iSupport, iTalk.

Moreover, for this term, Special Projects were created particularly for the Year of Ecumenism,
Inter-religious Dialogue, and Indigenous Peoples in 2020 and in preparation for the World
Youth Day in 2023, to be celebrated in Lisbon, Portugal.

GENERAL ACTIVITIES

Diocesan Youth Summits: Refresh and Connect (February 2020) and Moving Forward
(February 2021)

The Diocesan Youth Summits aimed to gather all of the parish and vicariate youth leaders in a
forum with the objective of providing the general direction of the Diocesan Youth, as well as
providing an avenue for consultation and status updating of the different parishes.

On 29 February 2020, Refresh and Connect was held in the Cathedral Shrine and Parish of the
Good Shepherd. The event was attended by around one-hundred twenty youth leaders.

On 27 February 2021, Moving Forward was held virtually in the light of the COVID-19
pandemic. All vicariates were adequately represented. The Summit focused on the status of the
PYMs in the time of the pandemic – discussing the changes made and the challenges faced.

Diocesan Youth Ministry Anniversaries: DYMA-papagod, DYMA-tatakot, DYMA-gigiba


(2020) and Pagdaloy (2021)

In 2020, the Diocesan Youth Ministry Anniversary entitled “DYMA-papagod, DYMA-tatakot,


DYMA-gigiba” was celebrated on August 25, 27, 29, 2020. This was the first time that the
DYMA was celebrated virtually, and there was a good number of attendees per day.
In 2021, “DYMA: Pagdaloy” was celebrated, with the theme of the coming of age or the 18 th
year of the Diocesan Youth Ministry. This time, the celebration was done in 2 days, August 27
and 28.

Feast Celebration of Inang Desay, Patron Saint of the NDYM

NDYM, in collaboration with the Kristong Hari Parish Ministries, held online activities and
liturgical celebrations.

#LAKBAY Batch 4

NDYM continued with its specialized program for assisting Out-of-School/underprivileged


young people in the Diocese, with 25 scholars graduating from this batch. The program ran from
October 2020 – October 2021.

Online Learning Conference on Youth Leadership for Peace and Development

On October 2020, this Program was launched in collaboration with the St. Vincent School of
Theology. The program aimed to provide formation for twenty-five youth leaders from the
Diocese.

500 Pangako Para Sa Bayan

In line with the celebration of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines, the NDYM
launched on April 2021 the program entitled “500 Pangako Para Sa Bayan”, which created
avenues for involvement in electoral participation, health and wellness, ecology and waste
management. The program is still being carried over to the next term.
