Accident Investigation is the methodical gathering and analysis of data relating to an accident that
has resulted in the loss of property, time, or health of individuals, or even the loss of lives, and is carried out
by trained professionals. In other terms, it is a scientific and technological investigation into the
circumstances that transpired during an automobile collision. The purpose of an investigation is to establish
the reason of an accident, after which suggestions are made or corrective action is taken in order to
prevent a repeat of the same or a similar incident in the future. Furthermore, safety professionals with
extensive field expertise are responsible for commencing an accident inquiry when an accident occurs.
These professionals have received the appropriate training and have the relevant competence to conduct
an inquiry into an accident. A unique accident reporting template, which includes the underlying reasons
and recommendations, is used by some organizations or automobile manufacturers. A thorough
investigation may reveal a number of contributing factors, as well as recommendations for preventative
measures.
2. What are the levels of Accident investigation and for each level, how would you apply in the case of
Vehicle Accident?
Accidents are intricate. To effectively prescribe the following preventive activities, substantial
research and inquiry are required. Nonetheless, a thorough study is required, and multiple stage reasons
must be emphasized before getting to the true cause of the disaster. These are referred to as the
fundamental, indirect, and direct causes, respectively. The direct cause is at the bottom of the hierarchy; it
perpetuates the individual who was exposed to the disaster. For instance, in a car accident, the collision
occurred between two vehicles. Additionally, Indirect Cause results in the victim's or suspect's risky act or
situation. In the event of a vehicle accident, it is possible for the suspect to be distracted by their cell phone
while driving, resulting in a collision. Finally, Basic Causes refer to additional external elements that
contribute to an accident. Environmental conditions, traffic situations, unrecognized road signs, and altered
road profiles may all contribute to this.
