College Research Reflection

1. List the campuses you plan on applying to or have already applied to. Highlight the three
most important criteria you used in determining where to apply.
The campuses that I plan on applying to include University of California San Diego or
Mesa College. One of the criteria I used to determine where to apply was having a large
campus. This was important to me because I'm a very curious and adventurous person
that needs the space to explore and feel free. Another criteria I used was having multiple
varieties of online courses. This was important to me because studying in an isolated
room where you feel comfortable may significantly help with your studying rather than
being in a large and crowded room. The third criteria I used was having many stores and
restaurants. This was important to me because having multiple selections of places to
eat and shop such as a plaza instead of going to eat in the same place everyday may help
relieve stress and taking those breaks visiting new places will also be rewarding after
taking an overwhelming exam.
2. Which campus is the one you would most like to attend? Explain why this campus is your
first choice compared to the others.
The campus that I would most like to attend is UCSD. This campus is my first choice
because it has all my criterias plus many more benefits than Mesa college, but overall I
would still like to apply and go to both.
3. What will be your intended major? How does this major relate to your chosen career?
What resources do these campuses have to support you in this career field?
My intended major is in clinical psychology. In order to become a clinical psychologist
first I must obtain a doctorate and a masters degree. The campus offers many resources
to support me in becoming a clinical psychologist. For example, the campus offers
multiple choices of classes instead of having to stick strictly in classes that are known for
not having a big impact in psychology. In addition, the campus provides additional
support by having the ability to pursue your major no matter what college you attend.
4. How do the costs of attendance compare at each campus? How do you plan to cover the
costs of attendance if you are accepted?
The cost of attendance at each campus for UCSD living with parents is $26,340 and for
Mesa living with parents is $15,628. In order to cover these costs, I plan to get a
scholarship and apply for financial aid.

5. What application types are used by each campus and when are the deadlines? Have you
met all requirements to apply on time?
The application type used by UCSD is used for the nine UC campuses with
undergraduate programs. The deadline to apply to this campus is May 1st 2022. I have
not met all of the requirements to apply on time. So far, I have only met one
requirement to enroll which is having no grade lower than C; however, I still need to
graduate high school, subject requirement, scholarship requirement, personal Insight
questions, and portfolio review.
6. Are you required to take any admissions tests to apply? If so, which ones are accepted,
and which ones did you choose to take? How did you make this choice?
In order to apply to the campuses I have selected, I do not have to take admissions tests.
These admissions tests include the SAT and the ACT. I chose to take neither of those two
options. I made this choice because UCSD will not consider SAT or ACT test scores as a
factor in admissions decisions.
7. Do any of the campuses require letters of recommendation, essays, auditions, or
portfolios? If so, how do you plan on acquiring these documents and what else do you
need to do to prepare for these requirements?
The campuses I plan to apply to do require portfolios. For example, UCSD portfolios in
order to apply to the campuses. I plan to acquire these documents by self-reporting my
grades from my own transcripts, honestly and accurately.
