Lesson 11
College Research Reflection

1. List the campuses you plan on applying to or have already applied to. Highlight

the three most important criteria you used in determining where to apply.

I have not applied yet, I am looking to get a year off to figure out what I really want to

do, I believe the three things I look for in a school is convince in the location like if i'm

near libraries, coffee shops, & grocery outlets, the second thing I look for is the walking

distance of the schools, is it manageable or is it a long walk/exercise, what kind of

activities are available to me, rock climbing, curriculars that can aid me or study groups

as well.

2. Which campus is the one you would most like to attend? Explain why this

campus is your first choice compared to the others.

When I was in AVID I went to a College campus University of Irvine. I believe I’d be

willing to attend this due to the scenery, as well as rock climbing that was available to us

when there. I enjoyed the color schemes, and the welcoming clubs and caring attitude

of the students!

3. What will be your intended education goal? How does this goal relate to your

chosen career? What resources do these campuses have to support you in this

career field?

My educational goals are passing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for myself not for my

career. But my goals related to my career are obtaining my bachelors as well as my

master degree, and receiving my doctorate. The campus I have looked at is Brown

university which has information on their website including, career field information,

job/internships and fellowship listings, alumni in the field, and professional associations.

4. How do the costs of attendance compare at each campus? How do you plan to

cover the costs of attendance if you are accepted?

Most of the attendances cost 11-15k. I plan to work at Macy's full time for a year and get

an apartment near campus. Once I have obtained an apartment I will use the rest of the

money to pay 10k upfront for my admission and the rest of the bill I will talk over with my

parents. Then working part time while going to classes in the morning/afternoon to work

6 hour shifts at most. And save 3k and my parents will pay the 2k. And that is how I will

cover my college attendance.

5. Do you plan on transferring to a four year college? If so, which campuses are

you interested in transferring to?

Yes I do, I plan on transferring to University of Massachusetts or University of Irvine. I

have also considered campuses in Texas as well as around the world but those are the

two I have my eyes set on.

6. Are there transfer agreements available? If so, which agreements do you plan

to use to successfully transfer? What are the requirements of these agreements?

The minimum requirements are 2.7 GPA. It is based entirely on the major you are

taking, for example transferring as a nursing major you will need to take NCLEX exams

to transfer with a passing score, and all classes need to have B or higher to then

transfer. But considering there is no specific information on my major it will be based

entirely on credits which can be looked over and discussed with counselors.

7. Which classes are transferable from the community college you plan to attend

to the campus you plan to transfer to? Are there classes that will not transfer?

Lesson 11
I looked on VVC.edu it all depends on whether you plan to transfer to a university,

private or a POC university. I don't specifically see my college or university but

information on CSU says you must have 60 transferable units with at least a 2.0 GPA, &

including those within the major you are pursuing, as well as the golden 4 which consist

of you doing communication studies/speech, critical thinking, and quantitative

reading/mathematics. As long as you talk with your counselor he/they/she will advise

you on the path to making sure you transfer, so somehow having no credits being

transferable will only happen if given the wrong information.
