College Research Reflection

1. List the campuses you plan on applying to or have already applied to. Highlight the three
most important criteria you used in determining where to apply.
a. I plan on applying to Grossmont College, Cuyamaca College, and San Diego City College.
The three most important criteria I used in determining where to apply were the
location, financial aid options, and the courses they have.

2. Which campus is the one you would most like to attend? Explain why this campus is your
first choice compared to the others.
a. I would most like to attend Grossmont because it is the most convenient location-wise,
courses are affordable, and they offer a flexible schedule.

3. What will be your intended education goal? How does this goal relate to your chosen
career? What resources do these campuses have to support you in this career field?
a. My intended educational goal is to achieve my associate’s degree first, then get my
bachelor’s degree. This relates to my chosen career because I will need to complete four
years of college in order to pursue my chosen career.
b. The Grossmont campus has resources, like general counseling, a library and computer
center, and financial aid, which can support me as I work toward my career. For example,
general counseling can help me if I am ever in need of help regarding my classes.

4. How do the costs of attendance compare at each campus? How do you plan to cover the
costs of attendance if you are accepted?
a. At Grossmont, the cost of tuition is about $3,082. This is less expensive than an out of
state college tuition, like I would see in Oregon. I plan to cover the cost of attendance
with grants and loans.

5. Do you plan on transferring to a four year college? If so, which campuses are you interested
in transferring to?
a. I plan to transfer to a four-year university. Right now, I am interested in transferring to a
college in Oregon, but I am not sure which college yet.

6. Are there transfer agreements available? If so, which agreements do you plan to use to
successfully transfer? What are the requirements of these agreements?
a. There are transfer agreements available between Grossmont College and other
California Universities, but I hope to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Oregon. To transfer
to Oregon University, I need to show proof of my high school diploma, at least one
English college course and one math college course, and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
7. Which classes are transferable from the community college you plan to attend to the
campus you plan to transfer to? Are there classes that will not transfer?
a. Because I plan to transfer out of state, there are no designated transfer agreements
available. However, universities will normally take English, science, history, and math
courses. If I decide to stay local, there are multiple classes that can be transferred over
from Grossmont College to San Diego State University. Looking at biology, there are
seven courses that can be transferred such as human anatomy, anatomy, and
microbiology.
