Who am I, and My Future Pathways
My Interests
I have always been interested in things that challenge me. For example, I am most
interested in school when I am learning about science, math, or English, and I excel in
all of them, receiving straight A+s in all three subjects. I am also very interested in the
human body and mind. As an athlete, I am always curious about the best ways to heal
injuries, prevent them, and figure out how they happened, and the human mind is
fascinating as everyone is unique and believes in different things.
My Values
I am a very compassionate person and have always gravitated toward helping others whenever
I can.
I am very responsible, taking ownership of my actions, being accountable for my mistakes and
consequences, and learning from them.
I have lots of courage, having the bravery to face difficult challenges and to stand up for what
is right and what I believe in.
I have lots of perseverance, overcoming obstacles, and staying committed to achieving goals.
My Skills and Strengths
I am a very hard worker. Even when overwhelmed and facing obstacles, I will persevere
to succeed. I am also a natural-born leader, frequently stepping up and guiding group
tasks to complete them in an efficient and timely manner. Coming with public
speaking is public speaking. I am very confident and articulate when speaking in front
of people.
My Needs and Wants
My needs and wants were a crucial part of choosing what pathways I was interested in. I have always been
interested in living a very wealthy lifestyle but with plenty of time off to do what I enjoy. Here are a few
examples of what my needs and wants for my future career are.

Needs: Wants:

- Job satisfaction - High Salary

- Work for a company that has green - Close to my residence/good location
initiatives - Flexible work hours
- Work for a company with good management - Good company culture/good co-workers
- Have good benefits - Travel opportunities
- Career growth opportunities - Performance based bonuses
- Job security
How this Course Has Influenced My Future Pathways
This course has influenced me into looking a lot deeper into the jobs I wanted to
pursue. It demonstrated how much work I would have to do to go with those careers,
but after a lot of thought, I do not think my pathways are ever going to change. Now, I
know I will have to start working a lot harder when it comes to school, work, and
extracurricular activities.
My Future Pathways
My two future pathway options are pathologist and lawyer. I have been interested in
both subjects since I was a little kid. Having a high-paying, well-respected, and highly
acclaimed job was always a dream of mine, as it would make me feel like a positive
member of society, helping people in need. I picked pathology because it is a
high-paying career with some of the most flexible hours as a medical professional. It is
also very crucial in diagnosing a patent and very interesting. I chose a lawyer as my
second option because I believe I am good at debating, and standing up and protecting
something I care about is very important to me.
My Pathway Journeys and Budgets
Pathway Journey of being a Pathologist
The first step in my journey to become a pathologist starts in high school. To go to get into medical school, going to a competitive
university is crucial. In high school I need to start preparing for my future by ensuring my grades are high, I have lots of
extracurriculars, and I take classes that will help prepare my understanding such as biology and chemistry. Because I want to go
down to the United States, I will also need to practice and study for the SATs to apply for universities there.

The second step would be to apply to good universities and choose a good pre med major. Choosing a science-related major is not
necessary, but can be very important when taking all the exams needed. After searching for good universities, I have decided to
apply to many highly acclaimed schools, intending to get into ivy league schools or Rice University in Texas.

Thirdly, I would need to get good grades and start preparing for the MCATs for when I graduate. I would take the test before I
graduate to minimize the delay from graduating to entering medical school.

After taking the MCATs, I would now apply for and complete medical school in Canada. I would apply 15 months before I
graduate for the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) so I would have plenty of time to prepare for the
exam.

After passing the MCCQE, I can now start practicing medicine under supervision, and complete my residency. Then I can proceed
to take part 2 of the MCCQE, which will allow me to become a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada, which is necessary to
earn my full medical license.

Next, I would complete a fellowship program to specialize in a certain area (I have not chosen yet), which would take 2-3 years to
complete.

Finally, after all my training I would be able to apply for my full medical license and ensure that I meet all of the requirements.
Pathway Journey of being a Lawyer
The first step in my journey to become a lawyer also starts in high school. To go to get into law school, going to
a competitive university is crucial. In high school I need to start preparing for my future by ensuring my grades
are high, I have lots of extracurriculars, and I take classes that will help prepare my understanding. Because I
want to go down to the United States, I will also need to practice and study for the SATs to apply for universities
there.

The second step would be to apply to good universities and choose a good major. Choosing a law-related major
is not necessary, but can be very important when taking all the exams needed. After searching for good
universities, I have decided to apply to many highly acclaimed schools, intending to get into ivy league schools
with the best fit being Harvard.

Thirdly, I would need to get good grades and start preparing for the LSATs for when I graduate. I would take the
test before I graduate to minimize the delay from graduating to entering medical school.

After taking the LSATs, I would now apply for and complete law school at Harvard Law, and earn my Law
degree.

Before I can be a lawyer, I would need to pass the bar exams, and ethier “article” which entails working under a
qualified lawyer for 10 months, or in Ontario, complete the Law Society of Ontario.

Finally, I would become a lawyer, and I could apply for work at law firms.
Budgets
This is my budget for my first year at Rice
University to become a pathologist. It
totals around $90,000/year. Though it is
incredibly pricey, it is one of the best
pre-med schools in the entire country.
Transferable Skills
Critical Thinking Skills
Critical thinking skills are one of the most fundamental skills. It is very important
when analyzing data to figure out what the best next move is and ensure that risks are
minimized. Critical thinking is being able to analyze, interpret, and make logical
informed decisions.
Communication
I believe my communication skills are also very strong and crucial to lead a successful
life. Communication is imperative as you need to use it in many aspects of life. Your
communication skills must be good to thrive and succeed. For example, to collaborate
with others, you need to communicate your ideas and concerns, and ensuring that you
are concise provides a ton of efficiency to that process.
Self-directed Learning Skills
I think that self-directed learning skills are very important to everyone on earth as you
don't need to depend on anyone else to live. I am always curious and eager to learn
many new things, and I often take it upon myself to learn new things quickly. As a
result, I understand many new concepts and become very knowledgeable in many
different areas. To learn these new skills, I look for credible videos and articles and
focus on a subject that piques my interest. An example of my self-directed learning
skills would be that I have taught myself multiple instruments, including the ukulele,
bass, and piano.
Problem Solving Skills
Problem-solving skills are one of my most crucial transferable skills in many aspects of
life. I face many problems in a day, ranging from minor issues to big problems that
heavily impact my life. Being able to solve these problems in an efficient and timely
manner proves to be incredibly beneficial as I spend less time worrying about the
problems weighing me down.
The Skill I’d like to Improve
I think that collaboration is an extremely useful skill in everyone's career and life
journeys. I think it is important because to be successful, you will most likely need to
collaborate with others frequently. Collaboration allows people with different
perspectives to provide input and ensure that projects are completed with a high level
of perfection. Collaboration also provides improved decision-making, increased
efficiency, and shared responsibility. I might work on developing my collaboration
skills by practicing being open-minded, practice being an active listener, practice
setting clear goals and roles, practice being flexible and adaptive, and many more. In
conclusion, collaboration is an imperative part of having a successful life/career
journey.
Healthy Strategies
Examples of Healthy Strategies to Maintain Life, School, and Work
Balance
Some examples of healthy strategies to
maintain life, school, and work balance
are:
- Time management strategies
- Learn to say no
- Take breaks
- Stay organized
- Seek support
- Celebrate achievements
- Use technology wisely
How to use the Healthy Strategies
There are many different ways to use healthy strategies, but it all depends on which
one you are using. For example, learning to say no is all about setting clear boundaries
on what you are willing and not willing to do. Another example would be taking
breaks. Schedule short breaks every once in a while during a study session to maintain
focus and energy.
How do Healthy Strategies Impact My Life
Healthy Strategies impact my life very
positively. They ensure that my
work/school/life balance is good, and help
make sure that my mental health is good. I
get stressed very easily and the strategies
can help with that, making sure that I feel
a little better straight away.
How are the Healthy Strategies Going to Help My First Year After
High School
The healthy strategies are going to help
my first year after high school by making
sure I stay on top of all my assignments,
manage my time wisely, don’t get burnt
out, and my mental health stays good.
How I’ve used Decision Making Strategies to set a Goal
I have used decision-making strategies to set a goal by using the strategies to help me
figure out what I need to improve on in my life. I am very indecisive, and
decision-making strategies are imperative when trying to set goals.
Trends
Global Trends
There are many trends going around the globe right now. Here are some of the ones
with the biggest impacts on me personally.

- Technology is rapidly changing and becoming better, faster, and stronger. This is a
worry as it has started joining the workforce, taking away manual labor and
forcing millions of people to lose their jobs.

- Trends in the current economy include high inflation, very high interest rates, and
employment rates dropping.
How Have Trends Affected My Future
Both of these trends will very heavily affect my future

- Since technology is taking over jobs, it's going to be increasingly difficult to find
jobs, especially before I finish college, and need to work a lower-income job.

- The high inflation of the economy has skyrocketed the price of housing. At this
rate, it will be extremely difficult to afford when I am a poor university student.
Everything, such as gas, is also way too expensive, making it difficult to afford
things.
Reflections
Opinions on Having an After High School First Year Plan
I think having a first-year after high school plan will be incredibly useful for the way I
plan out the rest of my high school career. I had never really thought about what I
wanted to do in-depth, but now that I have I see that it is a really big deal and the
starting point for my career. I’ll be sure to continue to update and use the plan after I
graduate.
Opinions on Budget and Expenses for My First Year After High
School
Having a budget and seeing all the expenses for my first year after high school really
puts into perspective how much money the education is. Having this information has
braced me for the future and is allowing me to start saving in order to have enough
money.
