Business Overview

PORINA, a PANADERYA on Wheels, at Agoo, La


Union. A new upscale bakery shop focusing on providing
organic, healthy, premium food products. Our product line fits
nicely with health trends – so people who loves pastries and
baked goods will still get nutritious diet for we provide healthy
ingredients for our healthy product.

Sweet Potato Flour
The orange sweet potato, is a commercially valuable root
crop as it is a highly nutritious food. As a root crop, it is
considered as the staple all over the country due to its
accommodating attributes.

The researchers aim to produce an alternative that could


entirely replace wheat flour. In order for the sweet potato to turn
into a flour, it went through a very simple process which involves
drying, dehydrating, and pulverizing. The sweet potatoes samples
were gathered from the public market.

They were then washed to remove the dirt and were boiled
for 15 minutes, to make it reach its optimum condition with
maximum nutrients. After boiling, all of the sweet potatoes were
sliced thinly and placed in an electric dehydrator for 12 hours to
remove all moisture, allowing for its pulverization and longer
shelf life. A bullet blender pulverized the dehydrated sweet
potatoes turning it into small fine particles which was the flour.
The researchers brought the finished product to Intertek Inc. to
have it tested for its nutritional content.
