REFLECTION

The story of Coach Carter is about how to be a leader, how to discipline others

and yourself, how to give direction to take the right path, and how to counsel your team

or group. Coach Carter, who took over as head coach at Richmond High, knew when he

first arrived at the school to be a coach that the boys had serious academic problems

and lacked self-discipline. As a result, Coach Carter did his best to seize the opportunity

and apply his best approach. Throughout the story, he demonstrated bravery, patience,

and integrity while establishing trust. Coach Carter instills values and discipline in his

basketball team. Most of them didn't believe in the coach's ability at first, but that

changed once they started winning games. Coach Carter changed everyone's mind by

remaining consistent in his fight against oppression. With the men they started to get

back on track on their grades and focus to their studies they made sure that all of them

achieve the goals that they want. Coach Carter developed them as men by giving them

goals, rules and regulations that they must abide in order to stay out of trouble and to go

to college and have a better life. Throughout the films, his discipline and integrity

assisted in getting all of his students to attend college and get on the right track so that

they could succeed.
