Activity 1 :Coach Carter

Life is nothing more than a series of lessons. Learning is the first step in starting anything new,
whether it's a new pastime or a new career. Regardless of what we learn, most of us would benefit
significantly from the guidance of a more experienced mentor who could help us avoid costly mistakes.
Coach Carter is based on the true story of Coach Ken Carter, a controversial high school basketball coach
who made national news for his harsh disciplinary measures against his unbeaten team. But behind its
success is a challenge to have massive coaching and discipline that he needs to instill in each member of
the team.

The story starts when Mr. Carter accepted the coaching position on his terms. He believed that
if the players did not maintain good grades and form a cohesive squad, they would not be allowed to
play. To that end, all of the team members signed his contract. When Coach Carter received the bad
marks from his players, the team was undefeated and on its way to the 1999 State Championship. Coach
Carter made headlines when he shut the gym down and benched the entire squad due to bad grades.
When the players failed to satisfy their contractual obligations, the entire undefeated team was
suspended to teach them vital life lessons such as the value of a solid education, keeping promises, and
being accountable. We frequently overlook the value of education and the security it can provide,
particularly in light of stories of successful people who dropped out of school to pursue
entrepreneurship. These stories inspire people to pursue their passions and show that a degree is not
required for success, which is a mistake because success will not look for you if you do not put up the
effort to succeed. For his actions, Coach Carter earned both praise and condemnation. This is a great
inspirational film on what it takes to succeed in sports and in life. Coach Carter instilled in his players the
importance of dedication and hard work in order to succeed. The scene that has stayed in my mind was
when Mr. Carter asks a player why he plays basketball. He replies, "to win the state championship,"
which, of course, earns him high fives from the rest of the team. Carter then inquires as to which team
won the state championship the previous year, but no one knows. Carter tries to instill in his players the
values of discipline, respect, and confidence to achieve any goal in high school basketball. Any sport that
requires discipline as a basis. It helps athletes develop character by assisting them in setting their minds
to achieve great things. It is also necessary for success in other aspects of life, outside of athletics. Coach
Carter was attempting to establish principles in his students that he believed would benefit the entire
community. Every day, children have foul mouths, have unprotected intercourse, and are faced with
difficult options (whether or not to have a baby, and whether or not to sell drugs). If the coach wasn't
really determined, he would have given up given that his team has those flaws. And most importantly,
Mr. Carter deserves praise for truly attempting to deal with his team's concerns without passing
judgment and instead offering answers to issues. He presented solutions to his team's problems and
then left it up to them to decide the best choice. This was beneficial since they could observe the results
of their activities. They were able to see the beneficial outcomes when they made the proper decision.
The players suffered harsh consequences when they chose the wrong option and had no one to blame
but themselves. Coach Carter's leadership is ultimately what brings his players together. He's
determined to teach his teammates that the future is bigger than the four walls of their high school
gym. Another important takeaway from the movie is the value of endurance and tenacity. Coach Carter
believed in a brighter future for his club and worked hard to achieve it.
The story is fairly standard. Where this film differs from most films of this genre is its depth, as it
examines most of the team's members. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and found myself
inspired by it. The movie was a touch cheesy and sweet at times, but it was a good, pleasant film overall.
Although I disagree with the morality and immoral behavior depicted in the film, I see to it that I did not
miss its meaning. This is an excellent film for everyone, especially sports fans.
