What are the nursing care management after CS and DC?

Cesarean section delivery is a surgical delivery of a baby through an incision made in the
mother’s abdomen and uterus. It becomes the birth method of choice, different from vaginal birth.
Furthermore, assessment until discharge, services rendered to patients by the nurses adjust holistically
to accommodate the mother. After cesarean birth, immediate recovery and extended postpartal period
are the care that the patient will be receiving. Thus, after the surgery, the mother will be transferred to
a post care unit or ward. The nurse will be using a pain scale to identify the level of pain of the mother to
identify whether to give analgesia or continued epidural injections to relief pain. The nurse will then
instruct the mother to ambulate to relieve gas pain. The nurse will also inform the mother to place a
pillow on her lap when feeding her infant. Football hold for breastfeeding is one way to keep the baby’s
weight off from mother’s incision. Furthermore, during the extended postpartal period, the mother will
most commonly experience gastrointestinal function interference so the nurse will be observing the
mother’s bowel movement after the surgery. The nurse will also inform the mother to eat a diet high in
fiber and fluid to move her bowels and avoid constipation. Also inform the mother to be careful when
passing stool because she might put a lot of pressure on her incision. Also, always remind the mother to
drink her fluids. And lastly, to reassure the mother that it is normal not to have bowel movements after
3-4 days of cesarean birth.
Dilation and curettage is a surgical procedure which involves the dilatation of the cervix and
curettage of the uterus. This procedure is performed after a miscarriage. After this procedure, the nurse
will be monitoring the circulation and circulation in the legs of the woman. After that, the nurse will
instruct the woman to use perineal or sanitary pads for 2 weeks to allow the tissues inside to heal. The
nurse then will inform the woman that her menstrual period may be delayed and intercourse should be
avoided. Lastly, the nurse will inform the woman to rest for several days, avoid heavy lifting, and go
straight to the physician if bleeding is bright red and exceeds normal menstrual period.
