2022 DIVISION ASEAN QUIZ COMPETITION

To: Public Schools District Supervisors and Principals In-Charge

Public and Private Secondary School Heads and Teachers
All Others Concerned

1. In reference to DepEd Memorandum No. 76, s. 2021, titled 10th ASEAN Quiz
National Competition, which will be held on March 18-11, 2022 at PTV Broadcast
Center, Quezon City, the Schools Division of South Cotabato - Curriculum
Implementation Division (CID) shall conduct the 2022 Division ASEAN Quiz
Competition at San Felipe Elementary School, San Felipe, Tantangan, South
Cotabato on January 28, 2022.

2. The ASEAN Quiz is a continuing project of the ASEAN Committee on Culture

and Information (COCI) that aims to foster the spirit of healthy competition among
ASEAN youth in a friendly quiz game that exposes them to ASEAN cultural, political,
economic and social information.

3. There will be three (3) student-participants to represent every municipality.

4. The student-participant in the Competition must

a. be in Grades 9 to 10, between 15 and 17 years old, and not be 18 years

old by the time of the Regional Competition in the third quarter of 2022;

b. come from either a public or a private school;

c. be proficient in the English language, both oral and written;

d. have a grade of 85 and above in Social Studies during the first quarter
of School Year 2021-2022;

e. be physically and mentally fit and vaccinated;

f. have good interpersonal skills/ be a good team player;

g. be willing (with parental consent) to travel to Quezon City for the
National Level Competition as well as for the Regional Competition in
Myanmar in 2022; and

h. meet other criteria that may be deemed necessary by the ASEAN Quiz
Organizing Committee Philippines.

5. These are the mechanics for the 2022 Division ASEAN Quiz Competition.

a. The participants shall be seated in individual chairs with armrest.

b. Each participant shall be provided with an answer sheet pad. However,

marker shall be provided by each participant.

c. There are three segments to be used. Segment 1: Easy, Segment 2:

Average, and Segment 3: Difficult.

d. Segment 1: Easy round will have 10 questions. Each correct answer

will be given 1 point for a total score of 10 points. Participants will be given 10
seconds to write down their answer.

e. Segment 2: Average round will have 10 questions. Each correct answer

will be given 2 points for a total score of 20 points. Participants will be given
12 seconds to write down their answer.

f. Segment 3: Difficult round will have 10 questions. Each correct will be

given 3 points for a total score of 30 points. Participants will be given 15
seconds to write down their answer.

g. Total points for the Competition is 60.

h. Each question in segments 1-3 will be read twice. After the quizmaster
reads the question the second time, he /she will say ‘GO’. Only then the
participants will write their answer. When the time is up, the Quizmaster will
say ‘markers up.’ The participants will then hold up their markers and answer
sheet pad to show their answers. The quizmaster will read aloud the answer
of each participant. The scores will be record accordingly. A cumulative score
per participant will be announced by the quizmaster after each round before
moving on to the next segment.

i. After the segment 3, the cumulative points earned by each participant

in the three segments will be tabulated. The result will be examined and
verified by the Division ASEAN Quiz Organizing Committee. When the Results
have been verified, these will be submitted to the board of Judges and shall
be announced accordingly by the Quizmaster.

j. The chairman of the Board of Judges shall declare the winner. The
winner shall represent the Division in the Regional level.

k. In case of a tie, tiebreaker question/s shall be asked until definite

winner/s emerge/s. At the start of the tiebreaker round the scores revert to
zero.

l. Should there be questions or protests, the board of judges shall decide

on the matter. Their decision is final.

6. Anent this, participants are directed to observe precautionary measures in

relation to Presidential Proclamation No. 922 such as wearing of face mask, face
shield, physical distancing and other applicable protocols in performing their tasks
to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

7. Food, travel and other incidental expenses shall be chargeable against School
MOOE and other local funds subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and
regulations.
