Assignment 1

1. Knowledge and understanding of the Course Work/Assignment

PSDA: Developing quality check list [Presentation] (10%)


Students would be required to study CPWD specifications in their respective subgroups and
will prepare and present the quality check list associated with the allocated activity. This shall
include execution process, checklist and relevance of check points mentioned in the check list.
Weightage of the presentation shall be 10%. Participation matrix shall be submitted with the
project.

Assignment 1 [Presentation] (20%)


Students are required to the choose a bid document of an EPC contract, pertaining to civil
works for any project and prepare a quality management and safety management plan for the
same. The presentation needs to be submitted in the video format, containing the slides
detailing out the details of the project and associated quality and safety management plan.
The duration of the video should not be more than 20 minutes. This would be a group
assignment. The recorded video’s link (all time accessible and downloadable link) will be
submitted via email and PPT will be submitted via LMS. Participation matrix shall be submitted
along with the project.

2. Application and analysis of the topic (subject specific Skill)

The following skill set are targeted through the assignments:


• PSDA- The students are required to understand the activity they are studying and the
importance of checks in each activity.
• The skills targeted are ability to appraise the process and identify the critical check points and
possible hazards. The assignment aims to develop the critical thinking by asking the students
to develop the quality and safety management plans which shall involve not just the
application of the concepts but also strategic thinking to counter any possible pitfalls.

3. Use of relevant work examples and/or examples gained from further reading

Participants are encouraged to conduct an exhaustive literature review of relevant IS Codes,


CPWD Specification and E-Tender and provide reference at the end of the course work using
Harvard style of referencing.

5. Marking Rubric

The marking rubric is attached in Annexure 1. Indicative format of Presentation is supplied in Annexure
2.

6. Plagiarism

Amity Plagiarism policy will be followed. References shall be clearly mentioned in the specification.

7. Important Instructions

1. Plagiarism is a serious offence. In case of any plagiarism detected, penalty will be imposed leading
to zero mark.
2. Course work and reports should be solved by the individual/group.
3. Course work and reports should be submitted on time and submission after deadline will be
marked zero.
4. Name, student identification and title of the course work to be written clearly and legibly.
5. Both the assignments are group presentations.
6. Please refer to the marking rubric before making the outline of your presentation. Irrelevant
information presented doesn’t qualify for any marks.
7. All the presentations (individual and group) must be shot in the form of a video. PSDA assignment
shall be submitted by end of week 8 and Assignment 1 needs to be the end of 12th week. A link on
one drive shall be created for you all to upload your presentations. Only the Viva-voce shall be
conducted in the class for assignment 1. Feedback on PSDA assignment along with the breakup of
marks would be uploaded on LMS. Questions concerns pertaining to the feedback on PSDA shall
be addressed in class as per the details mentioned in the weekly plan.
8. The length of video for PSDA assignment and that of assignment 1 shall not be more than 10
minutes and 15 minutes respectively. If the length of the video is more, it shall be stopped at the
specified time and additional content shall not be evaluated. At least 50% of the members shall
present in the videos.
9. In case a member is absent for viva-vice then he / she shall be allocated zero for viva-voce.

8. Indicative Performance Threshold

The evaluation will be done as per standard marking rubric and indicative performance threshold.

PSDA: Developing quality check list [Presentation] (10%)
Refer serial No. 1 . Apart from the above the following are the additional notes:
• This is a group assignment. The presentation shall be made in the class by the group.
The time allocated for this presentation shall be 20 minutes.
• Relevant codes and their provisions associated with the tests are to be cited along
with the frequency of the tests and the point where the tests need to conduct.
• Significance of the tests must be explained in view of the impact on construction
quality and the apprehended cost of quality.
• Presentation of the students shall be followed by a debrief by the instructor.

Refer Serial Number 1. The following are the additional notes:
• This is also a group assignment. The presentation must be in a video format
incorporating all the slides.
• The duration of the video should not exceed 20 minutes. The participation matrix
must be a part of the presentation.
• The Quality Assurance and Safety Assurance plans are not essentially required to have
specific checks and quality plans, but the critical check points., as part of the quality
and safety planning.
• Students may choose an y project that is previously awarded, however they shall be
clearly mention the critique of the adopted quality and safety management programs
and their own suggestions. Inability to do that will fetch low marks.
