Shubham Koparde in the Design And Manufacturing of Receiving Gauge he conclude

that “A gauge or gage, in science and engineering, is a device used to make measurements or
in order to display certain information, like time. A wide variety of tools exist which serve
such functions, ranging from simple pieces of material against which sizes can be measured
to complex pieces of machinery. Depending on its usage, a gauge can be described as a
device for measuring a physical quantity, for example to determine thickness, gap in space,
diameter of materials. Limit or Receiving gauge is the time saving and cost effective method
of inspection. Also it is one go checking i.e. ovality, dia., depth, co-ordinates”.
Rohit R. Hadbe in the Design and Manufacturing of Inspection Gauge he conclude,
“Inspection Gauge gives the workers conformation to inspect components of internal holes
without using plug gauges. Inspection gauges are used industry where mass production
occurs for inspecting particular job. Limit gauge is an accurately work and higher accuracy.
When Sliding pins goes inside holes then component is acceptable and sliding pins does not
goes inside internal holes then component rejected. The gauge can increase the productivity.
It is a one type of go no gauges”.
Pandian A. Irudhayaraj R. Johnstephen R. in the Design And Development of Industrial
Receiver Gauge In Co-Ordinate Measuring Machine For Reducing Inspection Time he
concluded that, “A receiver gauge refers to an examination tool used to make sure a work
piece along side it’s authorized tolerances. The pin diameter in the receiver gauge is to
increase according to position tolerance of the pin. The inspection time of co-ordinator
measuring machine is reduced by increasing the diameter of receiver gauge is increased
according to the position tolerance. ”
Yueyang Ben, Jiaolong yang, Donghan Yin, Qian li in the system reset of strapdown INS
for pipeline inspection gauge. In order to bound the system error of strapdown INS utilized
in inspection of pipeline for locating the deformation inside the pipe system reset method
shows that the output errors of strapdown INS are estimated and compensated so the
perpormance of strapdown INS could be improved ultimately. Devesh Misra, Dr Krishna

In the pipe inspection gauage and artificial dustman for crosscountry pipelines a robot
designed to drive in pipeline whether inside or outside the pipes certainly it has to move in
the faromagnetic pipelines carrying some transdusers to perform the desired task accurately at
a certain distance. In pipe inspection robots is a special category of mobile robots equipped
with distinct equipment for cleaning , inspection and thickness measurement of pipelines
commonly known as PIG.

Hang Zang, Carlos Sanchez, Shuhai Liu, Shimin Zang, Hong Liang in the Wear of
polyurethane rubber used in dry gas pipeline as inspection gauges. Concluded that the
abrasive wear turn into fatigue under a long term cyclic shear stress the contact stresses of
different areas between rubbing pairs affect the wear mode of polyurethane rubber scratches
and tearing always take place under a low contact stress and a fatigue damage occur under a
high contact stress these results can be applied to PIG design and provide better
understanding of the complex wear behavior of UR.
Mamoun F. Abdel Hafez, Md. Sheruzzaman Chowdhury in the pipeline inspection
gauge positions estimation using IMU, Odometer and set of reference stations concluded
that it found that position errirs keep accumulating when only the speedometer measurement
is used to estimate the position a scenario where the reference stations are spaced 100 M aprt
is presented finally a scenario is considered where instead of reference station a lookup table
is a priorly created by an actual survey and is used as measurement . The lookup table
contains update points every 10M and the PIG detects the passage of 10m by reading the
speedometer.

Summary
An inspection gauge is a tool which is used to determine the exact dimensions, capacity, quantity and
to appraise or judge. A wide variety of inspection gauges and tools exist which serve such functions,
ranging from simple pieces of material against which sizes can be measured to complex pieces of
machinery.
