Define Self Analysis. Why is it important?

It is an independent methodical attempt to study and comprehend one's own personality,

emotions, and behavior without the aid of another person.

Importance of Self Analysis:

1. Before beginning a job it is important to evaluate and understand our transferrable skills,
strengths, weaknesses, values, priorities, interests and passions

2. It will help us to gain clarity and focus by exploring where we have been and creating a
pathway to where we are going.

3. Self-assessment sparks better student learning as students are reflecting on their learning
and are able to see more clearly their strengths and weaknesses

What is SWOT ANALYSIS?

The term ‘SWOT’ stands for strength, weakness, opportunities and threats analysis is a
framework used to evaluate a company’s competitive position to develop strategic planning.
It is designed to facilitate a realistic, fact-based, data-driven look at the strengths and
weaknesses of an organization.

SWOT Analysis was first used to analyse businesses. Now it's often used by governments,
non-profits, and individuals, including investors and entrepreneurs.

* Strengths

Strengths describe what an organization excels at and what separates it from the competition:
a strong brand, loyal customer base, a strong balance sheet, unique technology, and so on. For
example, a hedge fund may have developed a proprietary trading strategy that returns market-
beating results. It must then decide how to use those results to attract new investors.

*Weaknesses

Weaknesses stop an organization from performing at its optimum level. They are areas where
the business needs to improve to remain competitive: a weak brand, higher-than-average
turnover, high levels of debt, an inadequate supply chain, or lack of capital.

*Opportunities

Opportunities refer to favourable external factors that could give an organization a

competitive advantage. For example, if a country cuts tariffs, a car manufacturer can export
its cars into a new market, increasing sales and market share.

*Threats

Threats refer to factors that have the potential to harm an organization. For example, a
drought is a threat to a wheat-producing company, as it may destroy or reduce the crop yield.
Other common threats include things like rising costs for materials, increasing competition,
tight labour supply, and so on.
Shayantoni Sen’s Self SWOT.
S- Strength; W- Weakness; O- Opportunity; T- Threat.

Strengths- In one line I’m self-motivated, ambitious and hardworking

with positive mind-set. I’ve a great communication skill as well as a
good initiator to a conversation. Definitely I take myself as someone
who can add values to the table.

Weakness- I’ve a weakness of getting emotional at times and I think

that makes me who I am. I genuinely don’t have anger issues but I do
get sad when someone won’t let me speak up or breaks my trust. I’m
scared to get ignored but to show my existence around people I can
put efforts to that.

OPPORTUNITIES- As I am hardworking I can complete any work

given within the limited time and can put creative ideas which might
act as an opportunity to the industry. My ambition is to work in the
entertainment world as an assistant director and I make sure I won’t
miss any opportunities to reach the goal. Maybe I’m overconfident
but I’m smarter in my own way and will not let the company or my
potential go down.

THREATS- not that I’m weak regarding any anger issues but my
emotional attachment with people might act as a negative threat to
me, but when it comes to my work or anything related to work I will
give my best to not let any threats affect me or my company. I make
sure that I will be able to help the growth of my work and enhance my
skills and capabilities. Cause I always believe hardworking is the key
to success.
