Understanding Curriculum

IV. Learning Assessment

Part 1. Agree or Disagree

Direction: Read each statement carefully and decide whether you Agree or
Disagree. Support your answer. (5pts each)

1.It is a reality that there exist more than one curricula in the teacher’s
classroom.

I agree with this statement which states that there exist more than one curricula in
the teacher’s classroom because there are so many ways on how students can learn
in a four corner of room and also curricula does not only mean to learn with the
subjects taught by teachers but also students can learn through experiences and so
on.

2. A teacher can say with confidence that learning has occurred, if the
curriculum has been assessed.

I agree with this statement which states that learning has occurred, if the
curriculum has been assessed because at some point, students can’t learn
legitimately in their own ways using their own knowledge, without the help of their
teacher and guide for their growth. For me, it is better to present the curriculum
because, if the curriculum has not been assessed, it is quite hard for students to
develop their knowledge.

3. To establish national standards, teachers should be guided by

recommended curriculum in basic and higher education.

I agree with this statement which states that to establish national standards,
teachers should be guided by recommended curriculum in basic and higher
education because it is recommended by professional organization which is a
product of their latest researches, they study more about it and find the result.
Many scholars propose recommended curriculum as the most appropriate
curriculum for learners that’s why teachers should be guided by it because it will
really help students to learn more.
4. Only the Department of Education can recommend a curriculum.

I don’t agree with this statement which states that only the Department of
Education can recommend a curriculum because there are other agencies in the
Philippine context which can suggest or prescribe a curriculum, it is the Commission
on Higher Education ( CHED) and the Technical Education and Skills Development
Authority (TESDA)

Part 2.

Direction: Make a concept map that will explain curriculum.

Guide questions:

What curricula are presents in the classroom during my interview?

How do I describe what I interviewed?

Is there a type of curricula not present in the classroom? Identify.
