B. Learning Objectives
1. Listening
Students are able to listen to conversations about greetings both formally and
informally, thanking and regrets for making mistakes.
2. Speaking
Students are able to express and respond well about greetings and leave takings,
thanking and apologizing or regrets.
3. Reading
Students are able to read paragraphs containing greetings and farewells, thanks,
apologies and or regrets, translating them; answer questions related to the content of
the reading.
4. Writing
Students are able to compose or complete dialogues containing greetings and leave
takings, thanking, apologizing and or regrets.

1. Initial Activity (Introduction) (10 minutes)
 Greeting
 Check attendance
 Provide some questions related to the material to be discussed
2. Core activities (70 minutes)
 Identifying formal and informal expressions commonly used for greetings,
leave takings, thanking, apologizing and or regreting.
 Completing the missing words
 Listening to a dialog and answering questions
 Role playing dialogs describing greeting and leave taking situations
 Making short dialogs based on the situation given
 Reading for information; a letter, a passage about greeting
 Completing a dialog with the correct expressions
 Creating letters based on the situation given.
3. Final Activity (Closing) (10 minutes)
 Give students homework
 Teacher concludes the lesson intructed then by giving questions to some of
the students at random
 Tell the students about the next meeting lesson.
 The teacher suggests the students keep studying hard.

leave takings or thanking and appologizing. Then read in front of the class the results
of your work. at least 1 person 5 dialogues.

Bianca : Oh, Hi Alex.
Alex: Hey, you look limp and uninspired. What happen?
Bianca : My pet cat left the house since the evening and has not returned.
Alex : What happened?
Bianca : I forgot to close the back door, so my cat can go through that door.
Alex : Have you looked for it?
Bianca : Yes, this morning we were looking for it, but haven't found it yet. This is all
my fault.
Alex : I hope your cat will be back as soon as possible, okay?
Bianca : Thank you.
